I had them and they worked great. I just upgraded to a set of MT Slicks, but the BFG are awesome tires! Mine are also for sale if you are interested.

225/45R17, yep the only size that fits stock. Ill do $225 + shipping. One has some camber wear from one night of driving, but they still hook up hard as hell.

The BFGs are probably the best possible DRs for the Evo in terms of hooking. The downsides of them are the size - 225/45 is shorter than stock and will shorten your gearing - and inability to DD them. By that, I mean that you don't want to drive around on those daily or long distances to the track.

The primary alternative to BFGs is the Nitto 555R, which comes in 245/45 - taller so that you get MORE gearing (very important for riding out 4th) - and they can be driven like normal everyday tires. The downside is that they are not nearly as sticky, but they are very consistent for easy low-to-mid 1.6s all day long without wheel hop.

Warralton- So if it were you, which would you go with? Obviously with my setup imma need slicks, but im also not looking forward to buying a new drivetrain

I hate to buy a smaller tire and lose some RPMs, I hate imma be hitting 5th gear towards the end anyway

Also, where are you guys getting them?

I see some BFG's for mid $500s on ebay

EvoCrazy, you should see our argument in the Drag forum, although it's deep within a 900-post thread. Slicks are NOT more damaging - they are less damaging to the drivetrain unless you do something wrong. Street tires and DRs will be more prone to wheel hop (street tires are worse) while slicks will take all the shock and put it into traction due to the tire walls wrinkling.

I own Nittos, because my car isn't that powerful, and I badly need the gearing in 4th due to my altitude and stock turbo. The higher power cars up here use BFGs and just are able to rag out 4th really far with built motors/heads. I also like to be able to drive over an hour to the track and back without changing tires.

Ahh I see, Makes sense, thanks for the post.

When my car goes to the track it will be on a trailor, I dont trust driving it over an hour and run the **** out of it, the stock tcase/axles/and tranny worry me. Never know if something will come up so better to be prepared.

Well what Slicks do you recommend for stock rim and where are they sold?

thanks again.

Don't think they make 17" slicks - you would need a small wheel and small brake kit for that.

The BFGs can get it done, imo.

I am running Motorcycle slicks from Mickey Thompson, they are the 26x7x17 MT ET Drags. But good luck finding someone to mount them for you. And be prepared to break one or two. I ended up buying 5 of them because the bead broke on one, which is possible and since they arent meant for cars, the shops wont warranty/replace them if something happens.

Here is a link to the ones Im running:

And the cheapest I found the slicks were $180 a piece, plus tax and installation.

Installing them isnt a problem, I work at a Toyota Dealership.

Thanks for the link Celica

Do you have any pics of them on your car? Did you buy them from MT or another dealer?

I bought them at Norwalk Raceway. I dont have any pics yet. The problem with them mounting is that the max psi for the tire is 30 psi, and they were taking anywhere from 75-110 psi to bead up. And that was with a semi blaster-can to get them to set so we could get the bead to start.

Ahhh I see. I found a Site that sells them for $180 like you said.

I was wondering what they look like on the car.

I saw you recently drove a good ways to race, did you drive on them tires all the way there? (Im sure you didnt)
