Coilovers

Hey everyone, I need some help as far as what to do with my suspension. First off my car is a daily driver for now but do plan on making it my weekend racer in the future. My question is what is a good coilover brand that you guys can recomend with first hand experience that is good for a daily driver/ weekend track car? I was looking at the HKS Hypermax 3 coilover kit or the Megan racing coilover kit? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have you raced on your stock suspension yet? If not, how do you know what's wrong with it, that you need to replace it with coilovers? Hm...

I haven't raced the car with the stock suspension yet but I have taken some turns on he street and can feel a little bit of body roll and some understeer. I had a mustang GT before the Evo with suspension mods and I got used to the feeling of no or minimal body roll so I'm definately looking to get back to that and I think any upgrade from stock is always for the better.

Springs and sways will get rid of that roll.

If you want a GOOD set of coilovers, IMO you don't get that til you get to Bilstein PSS9's. Up to that point, you might be better served with just a good set of springs and struts.

Bilsteins PSS9 are $1999. Possibly the best ride quality from a coilover out there with excellent handling. Not as hardcore as KWV3's, but a great coilover from a great company with lots of after sale support.

^ I was under the impression a PSS10 will soon be available.

I tried the Megan Racing Street and Track coil overs before I went with Blisteins and RobiSpec springs.

I think the Megan Racing Street coil overs provided me with the best performance and daily driving comfort of the bunch. The tracks were FAR too stiff.

My current setup is excellent for daily driving but lacks the camber adjustments that the coil overs had, weighs more, doesn't allow for height adjustments, and is still a bit soft for R compounds and track duty..... In the pics below .... the blue EVO has my MR Track coil overs. It barely dives in corners .... the streets were similar but more tolerable.... my spring'd evo as quite a bit of roll and squat.

Ah....s-techs are terrible...we all know this. Cuscos, of course, are going to be an improvement.

Jeff - do you have sway bars? I seem to not have that much roll. I know the Robi springs have 1" of play before the spring rate takes over. It allows the weight to transfer and load the susp.

thanks for all the replys guys. I guess the Megan racing street coilovers look pretty good right now. Has anyone had ant experience with the HKS coilovers or known anyone that has them? I know there a little bit more expensive but I would be willing to dish out the cash if there better.

He's on R-comps....so more roll from that at least. If i recall, Robi's springs are a little softer then Swifts too.

I'd like to see him on GTWorx springs.
