225 too small for front wheels?
225 too small for front wheels?

Staggered setups have to be very carefully matched up so as not to put undo stress on the transfer case. I would never run a staggered setup on an AWD vehicle.

According to a tire size calculator, you are nominally 1.4% too fast.
I ran with a 10% difference once on my STi (stepper gear we didn't know about) and it took no more than a few days driving very little for that tranny to detonate and cause one heck of a mess.

i fail to see how tire WIDTH would hurt it any if the tire height is the same size... or am i being dumb? i also heard the height wasn't a certain number but a ratio...so i'm assuming i'm wrong haha

Here, calculate it for yourself.

It changes the section width, diameter (sidewall height), revs per mile...so the 225s will have to go 0.8 MPH faster than the 235 tires to keep up. What you do think that will do to your transfer case?

How many miles are on it already with the staggered setup? Your transfer case may already be f'ed up. Did you get it from a dealer or was it a private sale? Either way, if there's any way to undo the transaction, I would, and just wait for an RS that isn't potentially screwed up to come up for sale.
But talk about having to be careful, you guys need to have the tires be equal, I need them to be the perfect amount unequal... Anyway, 225/235 is dumb, whoever did that needs to be shot, I wouldn't go smaller than 235 on an Evo even if I was dumb enough to stagger the widths anyway. 245s are good, 255s are the way to go. And always all 4 corners, all the time! If you get an irrepairable flat in one, and the others are half worn out, that means 4 new tires. Yay! It sucks, but that's the price you pay with most AWD vehicles. So yeah, replace it as soon as possible and drive it as little as possible.
