im not sure what to think anymore. i installed my Tanabe GF springs on tuesday. when i turn the wheel i get a clunking noise from the passenger strut. i notice that the strut mount was shot. i replaced it today with my buddy and it is still having that clunking noise. the spring is sitting correctly. tomorrow my buddy is gonna give me an alignment to see if the camber is off. the only other thing i can think of is the strut is shot or the camber is off? but the strut was perfectly fine before i installed the springs.

anyone have any ideas?

ps. i did alot of research on the problem before posting. so helpfully replies only.

thanks
Dan

i had that problem when i had swapped out the tien springs for the hotchass ones. i never found out what it was but it did go away. it could be that the sping and strut combo needs to settle in together. it made the noise when turning.

Is the tapered washer installed that the top hat bearing sit and rotates on? And are you aligned correctly with the notch on the strut and the top spring perch? Some Ideas.

I had a problem like this and my top plate wasnt in like w/the strut, it was the spring poping(the noise). Only happened when I was turning.

all fixed. the spring was not sitting right on the top plate and it allowed the strut to rub against the wheel and allow the spring to twist. took off the spring and re-aligned it

good has new

thanks for the advice guys

i have the same noise with my hotchkis springs.. I can repeat the noise easily, by being on a downhill slope in neutral and just hit the brakes on and off, it's driving me nuts.. seems to be getting worse too.
checked the sway bar, and motor mounts etc.. i have a feeling it's the same thing. Hopefully it's not a big deal, but the noise itself just sounds like something is on the verge of clicking/snapping.
