so this strut bar is made out of lead? its super flexy? it lacks the technology of all the other strut bars?

most of you are right about not buying cheap ****, but ita strut bar not rocket science so long as it fits, its aluminum and the mount points are good it'll be fine.

ps i had one of these on my last car not as strong as my friends AcShintzer piece but 1/16th the cost and 95% effective.
As for cheap tires compare a set of ES100's to 200 dollar conti sport contacts the math doesnt add up, the key is not to buy cheap stuff its to buy inexpensive stuff

buy the part but fear the understeer.

and to Sliverfast, no one that talks like that can drive I know people with $3000 miatas that you probaly could keep up with on a trak, what you have on the raod is nothing... its what you have in your head that does, experience wins on the track not ***** and parts

To a certain degree hehe. No seriously, your'e right, but buying ****ty parts isn't really the best way to complement a good driver either. True, strut bars are pretty basic, but if I can get a piece that is lighter and stiffer than that $50 piece and pay $200 for it...I would. I dunno, I'd rather have the best, or close, and pay for it than settle. I've got the 40mm Cusco carbon fiber bar on mine, and I have no regrets.

To: absinthe: 1 I do know how drive/race on the track thats the only place that you should..
2 I learn more everytime i go out there, thats why its called SEAT TIME SEAT TIME
3Miatas are allsome track cars (but small- I'm 6'5" 250lbs) thats why my wife has one AND does somtimes beat me on tight tracks

So for you Mr. bid mouth, bring your a$$ out to motorsport ranch or tms and lets do the talking out there

Well, bad news I guess. Got it this morning and I find out after trying to install it, that it doesn't F&&#%&ING fit. Dumbasses at Autobacs must have thought, oh, since the Evo shares the same name, everything will be the same... BS.

Argued on the phone with the lady there for almost 30 minutes. They have to test it and get back to me. Argh!!

The saga continues...

maybe i missed the rest of the thread, but was the bar made specifically for the EVO? Or was it just billed as a sort of one size fits all piece? Sorry it doesn't fit though...they should give you at the very least a store credit so you can get one that fits. I haven't been to autobacs yet, but from what i hear, they should have at least one that fits the EVO hehe.

Yea, they said it'd fit the Lancer & the Evo. After thinking about it, I looked at a normal Lancer and the distance between the two towers in the trunk is HUGE compared to the Evo. Basically, Autobacs didn't test it, or even LOOK at it at all and just thought it'd fit.

It doesn't.

I'm fighting for credit now. They're being difficult. They do not have a peice that'll fit if this one doesn't. (they said)

Any brace will help more than hurt...

However, the weak link in any of these brace is the fact that they are "hinged" at eitehr end by a bolt. While they do a good job of preventing side to side flex by the towers, they actually doa horible job of up and down movement by the tower, which is prevelant in cornering 9when one side of the car is loaded, and the other is unloaded). Not criticial on a street car at all mind you, but very important for you road race guys....

Solid would be best, second best is adjustable, but where the two halves of the bar actually screw into each other, while still being welded at the mounting plate (like the front brace on a 350Z - its a terrific overall design)
