I am very happy with my magic pads....sure they will toast on the track, but they are not for that purpose.

So if the magic pads are great for the street, what is recommended for the track as a substitute?

Edit: And can anyone recommend a cheaper pad? Or is there not a good pad for <$150/4?

Cheaper than $150 for all four? Its an Evo not a Civic after all. That is a killer price for 4 pads.

Track pads: Hawk HT/DTC, PF 97 or 01, etc.

A parts house will have pads for half that price but you will then experience about half the braking performance. If you bought you Evo because you enjoy driving a performance car you will find yourself replacing these less expensive pads in short order.

Ferodo DS2500 are great pads w/ superior performance to Hawk HPS.

I'm selling a brand new set front/rear for $220 if interested, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the info. You've recommended the Satisfied G6's as well for street use right? I may go with those. Either way, I just wanted to get an idea of what is a reasonable price for a good set, so I won't be going cheap (but not paying too much for a street set).

For the track pads, I can only seem to find front pads (or just a set of two without specifying where) for the ones you recommended. Fro example:

Hawk DTC-60

Do you put them all the way around? If not, what do you put on the rears?

Yes, the GS6's or GS5's are great street pads.

GTWorx has pads or can get them.

And I do only change my front pads for track days. The rears are HPS right now - will be GS5s this spring. You can do that because the rear rotors to not make as much heat as the front do. I have IR gunned them to be sure. I have not gone over the MOT of those pads.

magic pads?
They only make noise when the nut installing them just haphazardly slaps them on... My DS 2500's (all three sets) have been much quieter than the OE set, less dust, and a whole new dimension in performance.

HOWEVER! For Average Joe street car, the Magic pads seem to be the best bang for the buck.

Im not sure if u have a autozone next to where u live but you should also look at the autozone pads. Duralast Gold Cmax / Brake Pads. I got them for 60 bucks and they are life time warranty. So i dont have to buy brakes ever again. I do the labor my self and they provide the pads for free. So win win situation. I know i know its duralast brand. I personally have had no issues with them and they work great. I also have a set of rotor pro rotors and they work great also. I do get some noise but for the price it cant be beat and the performance is still there. Stops when i need them to and no shaking or anything. That is just my opinion .

I'd like to hear if anyone has any actual negative experience with these. There is a thread reviewing them:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ly-driver.html

No one in that thread had any negative personal experience with them, so I'd be interested to hear anyone that actually has or would recommend against them.

All I know is that I'll be visiting Mt. Baldy, Glendora Ridge Road again tomorrow. Probably the last time till it snows up there and they close it for a while

Oh well - those pads work but some will always hate because it's not X-Y-or-Z brand. If you really can't stand getting Duralast branded pads, then then go grab SmikeEvo's recommended pads at Amazon.com - much cheaper (GS6-D1001 for the fronts @ 57$, and GSS-D961 for the rears @ 41$ w/ free shipping).
