255's are pushing it...275s...I don't think that will even fit.

I'd go for it if thats what you want to do... I mean everyone says its not safe but look at what some (including me) have done with the motorcycle slicks... 7" tire on a 8" rim.... Not the best idea but gets the job done.

Your setup is fine. He's is trying to put a much wider tire (something for 9.5 width) on a 8 inch wheel.

damn, that just doesnt sound right at all, ive heard of stretching tires, but never thought about running a tire that is at the least 2 widths too big. hahahahahaha @ derangedazn

Either you will bend the belting of the tire, causing damage, or the tire will fall off, causing damage. What is the point of running such a large tire when all you will do is reduce the contact patch significantly by stretching the tire over itself? I am no tire expert, but you would likely have a larger contact patch with a properly mounted 245 or even 255 section tire.

whats wrong with 255s just run a good tire if you get like 9.5 go 265 or 275 but still 255s are perfect for me i love mine for auto cross
