Help!!! Tire questoin

Hey guys, need your help with something, I went to go check out some tires because my Yokahomas on my Evo IX are runnin low on tread. I talked to the guy at one of the tire shops here and asked him what he had. He told me he could get me some Bridgeston Potenza G019 tires and he said that they were better than the tires I have now they are the 235/45 R17's just like the Yokahomas. I have tried searching to see what I can come up with and I havn't found much info.............

Does anybody use these or know anything about them?? Are they good tires or should I go for something different. My car gets driven about 1 to 2 times a week and rarely sees any harsh weather...I think it has seen Rain 2 or 3 times in its life.

PLEASE, ANY INFORMATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Thanks again,

Ah, never heard of them.

RE01R's are the B'stones.

I would get the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs if you are looking for better than stock performance.

I would not get the RT615s at this point, the new tire compounds are light years past them.

The Z1*'s are what everyone's running. They're cheaper, perform better dry and wet. I'll be switching over to them soon, too. Anyone know what're good sizes to run on for track? I was thinking about the 255/40/17's, are there any big losses in straight line performance?

Not big losses, but a 255 will have to rotate more to cover the same ground (lower profile). But for tracking or pure AXing on the stock rims the 255's width will help in grip.

For street, I like the OE size.

That'll mean my speedo won't read right...? If so, I might stay with the 235/45/17. I only track once in a while, and it's cheaper with OE size.

Yes, the speedo will be off on any sized tire that does not have the same diameter as the OE.

The G019 is B-Stone's high performance all season tire. It replaced the G009 a year or so ago. Good tire, but it will not come a hairs close to the dry traction/response of the oem Yoko's. Lots better wear, ride, and much quieter but falls behind to handling in comparison.

If you have any chance of seeing winter like conditions I'd move to a ultra high performance all season. The B-Stone RE960, Michelin Sport A/S+, and Yoko S4 are all great a/s tires.

If you don't see snow or freezing temps only thing I'd look at is the Dunlop Z1's.

what he said ^ he he Dunlop FTW, on a serious note though, i have read alot of info about tires and such the past few months to be able to make an educated decision on tired myself and every time i do the exact same tire comes up as the top dog, Dunlop Star specs are the way to go if you are not going to see snow or the likes, and seeing that you are from Atlanta your year round climate is almost the same as mine in NC so i would definitely recommend the star specs.
