Not going to bash or promote Rota wheels, buti f you do decide to shy away from Rotas and do not want to spend Volk/ Advan money, consider Enkei. They have several track proven, lightweight, strong wheels that use there M.A.T. processing and are still affordable. Many of the Advan wheels are actually made by Enkei using the same M.A.T. processing.

Speaking of track time, do you plan on going to Arroyo Seco's Super Lap challenge next month?

Ok I bought a new rota rim because I think they look awesome and Id rather buy other stuff instead of 3000 dollar volks. The rim that I cracked was due to hitting a curb at a pretty high speed. The crack was so small I didnt even notice it til I took the tire to get balanced. I think Rotas are pretty strong and Im willing to try them out at the track.

They do not weigh that much for being 18 inch rims. When I contacted Dan at wheeldude.com he was very nice and the customer service is great. I think Rota's are good looking rims and although I wouldn't mind some volks theyre are plenty of other things I'd rather spend my money on.

Everyone seems to like to jump on the bandwagon and just go for volks and advans....but advans are also cast rims too so I think its funny that people think they are so much stronger than Rota's. Ill be using these rims everytime i go to the track and I guess that will be the real test.

I beg to differ...

Oh well that's good to know. I have nothing against Rotas, I raced on them last year and they were fine, I just wasn't aware of any actual race cars using them.

of course they're heavier. any 18 inch rim will be heavier than a 17 inch forged wheel. for an 18x9.5 inch wheel I dont think they are heavy at all.

too many horror stories i've heard of rota's bending/cracking.
personally i wouldnt use rota's on the track, but for the street, with less aggressive driving i would use it.

Buying a set of Rota wheels w/tires from Subydude myself this week... for street duty though.

However, my "street" setups do get "aired out" on occasion though

I read on another forum that Rota changed their manufacturing process from a gravity type casting to a low pressure type casting. Can anyone confirm this?
