Brake Air Guides

Installed the Mitsubishi brake air guide kit this morning. When I searched for information on this kit someone has stated that given that the instructions showed a VII, he did not perform the stated undercover modification.

Basically Mitsubishi suggests cutting off a lip that is present on the VIII's undercover to provide more air flow to the air guides. A picture of the instructions is attached below.

I didn't bother cutting the lip off at this time given that it can be done anytime in the future.

Did you get ones for the rears as well? The reason i ask is that the set that Lancershop.com sells comes with rear guides, but some other vendors only offer the front ones.

There are no rear brake guides. If you are looking at the pic and see 4 pieces (from lancershop), the actual plastic air guide attaches to the metal bracket which is then attached to the car.

Right. There are only guides for the front, which attach to the lower A arm.

Purchased from Walker Renton Mitsubishi for $109 + shipping.

Here is a picture of the undertray's brake air duct (curved section), along with the air guide and the tab which could (should) be removed.

The guide serves to direct air from the duct to the caliper. By removing the tab additional air from the front of the car is allowed to flow to the guide.

I will also assemble a pdf file with the instructions / more pictures and upload the file to timzcat's ftp server.

PDF file with Mitsubishi instructions and pictures of the install has been uploaded to timzcat's ftp server. Currently the file is in the uploads directory named BrakeAirGuideInstall.pdf.

At some point I would expect this file to be moved to the installs directory.
