knocking noise!! help please
not engine knock, so heres my problem the noise is from front left of the car and when i am at a stop then give car gas to move i here knocking noise the noise goes away when i am driving. it is weird never happened b4 to me!! help
Well, I just recently got this noise as well. Mine makes the sound right after clutch release when taking off from a stop. The thing with mine is it came right after doing a clutch install so I need to tear it back down till I find out what we didnt tighten. I"m thinking possibly the driver side motor mount may not be tight but it's odd that it doesnt make the sound when shifting. I've already checked all the undercar bolts and they are all torqued to spec (we lowered the steering rack an inch to get the tranny back in). It almost sounds like plastic hitting, and at first I thought it was the undertray.
Also I just found today that the driver side spring still had the rubber block that should have been removed during dealer prep -sigh. I hope it's not the top of the strut mount causing that sound as it would be a hastle to get the dealer to fix it. At least I have the block that was supposed to be removed. This is pretty weird... I had checked for this shortly after buying the car, I guess I just looked at the passenger side when I checked. I was hoping that was it since it's almost a spring perch sound but the sound is still there.
I'm guessing it could also be brake pad related but since it's a new sound I'm leaning towards something that was tightened properly during the rush to get the clutch done.

It could be your ball joints or CV joints making a clunk when you start moving. Have you checked the T-Case / tranny fluid levels?
Have you gotten under your car to look around? Check the joints to make sure none of the rubber on any of the joints are torn. May want to check your motor mounts and suspension (look at the whole spring assembly) as well.

If you just got an alignment maybe the guy forgot to tighten down one of your bolts that he loosened to do the alignment.
Malik, is your sound a single knock / clack / click or a continuous sound? Mine is a single clack (not very loud), and when taking off very smoothly there is no sound. I think mine is obviously suspension / motor mount related since it only does it when setting off from a stop. Car is going on jackstands this afternoon. If I can't find it then next would be a lift so we can watch and hopefully replicate with it in the air.

Here's another thread to look at that I've been reading. If nothing is loose from my clutch install I thinking it's the upper strut mount. Plus it probably didnt help that the Mitsubishi dealer forgot to take out the rubber shipment block from the left side spring and I've driven 36,000 miles with it in there.
Weird title since it's mostly about upper strut mount, not the ball joint.

I think I got it mixed up, this is the one.
