Broke a wheel stud

Another nightmare scenario I had was, after changing out to my winter tires last fall, after driving about 600 miles and at highway speeds, I took a look and the 1 lug on my front wheel completely fell off and two were loose.

You have to double check those guys who mount your wheels! Some people are just rediculously absent minded. I blame them but don't blame them, some who work there have basic skills and are not employed to perform more complex fixes, so they're just left to the the grunt work...

I now always double check the bolts after a change.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
If correctly torqued down the lugs should stay in place. If not all torqued to the same spec then they can loosen.

Service manual spec. for lug nut torque is 73±7 ft.lb.
