Enkei RPF1 Question.

I've been doing a ton of research but would like to ask a question for those that run this setup or those who have run this setup.

The RPF1 17x9.5 in 38offset all around... i know atleast a 17mm-20mm spacer is required to clear the front brembos... i feel uneasy about running spacers as these will be my track wheels. Research tells me the bolt on spacers such as the project kics or ichiba spacers are better than the slip ons with extended lugs.

So.... here's my question.

The 17x9.5 RPF1's are offered in two offsets. +18 and +38. If i add the 20mm spacer on the +38 offset won't that make it +18?? why not just buy the RPF1 17x9.5 in the +18 offset and run a staggered setup? are there any consequences to doing this??

The biggest drawback i can see is balancing the wheels/tires... other than that i would think they would work.

After seeing a ton of pictures on here both wheels have identical spokes/concavity.

All help is appreciated.

EDIT: Forgot to say my fenders are stock and would like to leave them so but am open to rolling them to run this setup.

Tires will be 255/40/17... maybe NT01's.

Its not a problem if you run +18 on the front, but then you cannot rotate tires. I had the 17x9.5 +38 all around, because I wanted to be able to rotate tires to make them last longer. When you're spending $600+ for a set of tires, you would want them to last as long as possible. My car was on stock suspension, and only had slight rubbing during full lock left and right. Also had a friend ride on them when he had Swifts install, and had the same slight problems. No other clearance issues that i knew of. GL!

Chu pretty much covered it. The 18 does have a different face than the 38. The lip will look identical but where the lugs are, this is where you actually see the difference. I have the 38 offset all around with a 245/45 NT01:

I think a 17x9.5 wheel is a bit to wide for what im going for... a 17x9 +35 with a 255/40 size tire will work better for me.

Will a 15mm spacer with the +35 offset RPF1 clear the stock brembos?? 255 size tire.

I am guessing you need spacers for RFP-1 due to spoke design? - I used to run 17x9.5 NT-03M's in 38mm and you don't need spacers. I did have chagespeed widebody 20mm fenderss, so I ran H&R 25mm spacers to widen front track.

I also had 275's on them and had rolled rear fenders.

Shameless plug - I am selling this combo off with less than 300 miles on them

yep. all RPF1's over 17x9 require atleast a 20mm spacer.

i think i'll place my order for 17x9 +35.

thanks for the help guys!

why not get them in 17x8.5 +30?

i have been looking into getting these and mounting 255/40-17 Dunlop Star Specs to them for autox.

is there any benefit to running a wider wheel w/ the same width tire? The 8.5s should be a little lighter and cheaper. tirerack claims they fit w/o spacers. i dont know if there are rubbing issues running this wheel/tire combo.

There wont be any benefit but the face of the wheel is much more appealing to most. The 8.5 is a flush fit. Bigger will at least get a little bit of concave.

These were custom made for the Evo, I believe from Robispec?

Depending what class you are in, you might want to consider going bigger to fit a larger tire.

that's a good point. i really gotta look at the rules before i finalize my decision on a wheel. i still haven't quite determined if i'm going to get them or not. it depends on how much i think i am going to autox this spring after the first couple events. mostly this is going to be a fun thing for me - not a competitive thing... but i may want to get competitive... so it would probably be good to get a wheel that would allow me to upgrade my tire if i wanted

Actually, Robispec and Hotlap Motorsports are the only ones to sell the 17x9.5 NT-03M in 38mm offset. Just rolling rear fenders will allow for 275's without spacers. Actually, Robi and Kyle recommend a 25mm spacer up front to make the offset basically 13mm saying that this increased track width helps a lot with handling and increasing front grip (maybe understeer? - dunno for sure)

Sorry to jack, just responding to the question...
