I would not separate the calipers. I think it has been stated several times. Not advisable.

The front Evo calipers are not a big deal, as they do not have an O-ring between the two halves. As long as the pistons, seals and boots are removed, they do not need to be seperated. The rear are a different story, as they do have a seal bewteen the halves.

If you are referring to the situation of seal in rear caliper in a powder coating oven then I would think that the seal would be fine because brakes get way hotter than that.

I would like to see those calipers after numerous track days...

Be careful what decals you get. I just had some decals melt when I powder coated clear on them.

I had em sent out and done. There is a clear, with the decal over the clear.

I took all the boots and seals out prior to taking em in. DO NOT SEPARATE any of the calipers!!! They will never bite the same.

As mentioned earlier, brake calipers will easily see higher heat then what is used to bake em in the oven.

Powder coat

These pictures are without powder clear. The clear made them look much more glossy and added a cool raised affect to the front decal. However, when clearing the rear the decal started to lift.







Will post cleared pictures soon.....

For those that do not know.... Mitsu warranties the calipers for just about anything. Almost everyone I know that has an evo has had Mitsu replace them with brand spanking new brembos. Didn't matter if they were peeling or burt from heat. If your car is still under warranty take it in and get a new set.

These calipers are not actually going on an Evo. They are for my S14 240sx, which will see little to no track time. The front decals are under the clear and held up fine to the 450 degree oven temperatures. However, for some reason the rear decals lifted. I felt that the decals would not stand up to street debris, so I needed to put the clear over them. I am going to cut the rear decal out and put a replacement over it, and and spray some high heat clear over it. I plan doing my the calipers on my Evo as well, possibly in a matte red.

I can only speak from experience.. EVO, race rubber, carbotech xp12 and 10 mintues of track time = flame baked decals along with calipers that are no longer bright red. The ONLY time I brake is quick ninja kicks before entering a corner. Do not ride the brakes, no trail braking.
