Help with Brembo powder coating...????
EvoM members,
To those of you who have powder coated the Brembo calipers (or know how to!) ...I have two questions:
1. What are my options for using Brembo logo if I am powder coating?
2. What is the proper "red" color code or name for the standard corporate Brembo brakes...as seen in other exotics like Porsche, Ferarri, etc?

not to sure on the color code?
the stock brembros im not even sure if they were powder coated seems to be some kind of gel coat
i just picked up an 03 8 the back brakes were faded removed them along with the pistons & oil seals make sure you have the powder coater tape off all the holes & where the bolts meet the caliper or it will cause chipping i just had them match it as best as they could you cant even tell on my car from front to back
good luck with the procces my car was down approx a week and a half
as far as the logo you can order them i did a search on the forum ended up getting them on ebay

Don't forget there is a small rubber O-ring between the sides (blocks) of the rear caliper that should be removed before having them coated. You just need to loosen the allen head bolts that hold the two side toghther and the seal will fall out.
The heat from the powder coating can dry out this O-ring and it will leak........Ask me how I found out!

do you need a press to push in the pistons back in the caliper for the fronts?
im having a problem trying to get the piston back in!!
do we insert the rubber boot on 1st then piston ?

I have rebuilt my Brembos 3 times now....and I have never used a press, all by hand.
Seal goes in the caliper, the piston is pushed in by hand and the dust boot is installed last......try to add a little brake fluid as lube on the seal before you press the piston in.

The right paint should hold up better than most powders. I occasionally have to high temp powder coat things and the color selection is generally pretty bland. There's not much out there powder coat wise for the high temps a brake caliper sees. Brake caliper specific paint is abundant though. Whatever Brembo uses, it's not a standared powdercoat. It looks like a paint to me given the way the clear coat flakes off.

Is it necessary? On most of the Evo calipers no, but we've seen a handful that were track used and the seals were completely done.
just use the VHT spray can that stuff is rated for 900 degrees. It'll be cheaper than powder coating. U just have to make sure u clean the shiet out of the calipers and remove all old paint and sand prior to spray painting them. As for the decals I have found them on this forum, just use the search function and it should pop up. I paid ten bucks for the the decals.
I just finished powder coating my calipers. I disassembled, chemical stripped (benco B17), and bead blasted. Coated them silver, applied high temp decals, and powder cleared over top. They look amazing.......
