DD Tire recommendation?

I DD my evo 8.. I have searched a lot and still am unsure... I'm on stock 17's looking for a 245 (or bigger depending on what I can fit on stock rims) by 40 by 17

-I need a tire that can last long (I am broke)
-I want a tire that handles extremely well and grips well
(I am broke can't afford track tires too lol)

^^perfect balance of the above if possible, good performance that will last as long as possible.. (so the longest life tire that doesn't suck performance wise I guess?)

-I am not looking for an all season tire (summer tires and winter tires)

Could everyone chime in on their tires for their DD and how you all like them?
I have heard good about the Falken Azenis RT 615s about how long they last..
any opinions?

I DD my EVO and I just got the Z1 star spec. That is half the price of the OEM a046
and the z1 performs better than the advans from what i heard/read.

If you want tires that can last long why are you even thinking about falken rt 615? it's summer tires w/ low tread wear rating. If you are broke you should be looking at tire with 400 tread wear rating, do search on here you will find answer to your questions

Please search and read - these posts are very common.

PS - extremely sticky tires = shorter life. Everything has a trade off.

^^ yes thank you I realize that which is why I am asking on here how everyday people like their tires and don't just refer to some tire rack tests, or oh so inconclusive reviews

I try to search and everything OT that has the word "tire" in it always comes up, even when searching in titles only.. so its hard to research on here

I've heard about 20,000 miles for an extreme performance tire i think thats pretty good

Search using "--" - example "daily tire" or "DD tire"

Or look though the past pages in this forum -- these threads are common.

10-20k is about average for extreme summer tires.

There's not much perf diff between the tad wider tires so I'd save the $ and keep the oe size. It's a bit hard to find get the best of all worlds, but we can come close.

If you want to give up wear, the Sumitomo HTRZ III would be a great inexpensive option. Keeping wear but cost down and giving up some dry traction I'd look at Kumho's SPT KU31. Spending a little more, the Yoko S-Drive would be a great option. Jack of all trades that will do a bit of everything for you.
