Lowered w/ Tein STechs
Re: Lowered w/ Tein STechs
Great example Kero... I have these as well. I'll be posting a pic soon so everybody can see how they look on a tarmac evo. Looks KILLER bud! However, I have to admit that all of you guys that claim that the ride is less stiff with the Teins... PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE!
Now I will say this : the ride is less stiff with the Teins... ONLY if compared to other aftermarket spring set-ups... but DEFINITELY NOT when compared to stock. C'mon guys... you are comparing high performance Tein springs to stock... no way the Teins are softer with such an agressive drop. Seriously, I initially thought the same, until I hit a bad stetch of road.
Don't get me wrong here... because they aren't THAT much stiffer than stock, but quit kidding yourself guys... THEY ARE a bit stiffer... atleast 10-20%.
In regard to spring suspension stiffness, my set-up is about as close to stock as it's gunna get now with Tein springs... since I have my Toyo T1 S's installed. The Toyo's have very deep tread and more cushion then Advans... a nice compliment to a stiffer spring set-up.

The drop is about 2" in front and 1" in back, probably the most aggressive of all the aftermarket springs. You do have to be careful when you go up inclines, but if you take them at an angle, it's no problem. I've scraped lightly 2 or 3 times, and that was because I forgot it was lowered. And it was that plate on the underside, not the bumper. Overall not too much of a pain for better handling.
BTW, it really does seem to handle better - I didn't notice it until I drove another stock evo - and the increased stiffness isn't really that noticeable.
evo1, you have to post pics of your black evo w/ the Teins. I bet it looks tight! BTW, how do you like your Circle earth kit? Great mod!
Now I need that RMR catback...
chris, they're not really add ons since you take out your stock springs and replace them with the aftermarket ones.

envious, I got these at Options for $150 + shipping, but they weren't in stock right away. Z1 and DRC (forum vendors) were saying $190 shipped, but they might be able to get you a better deal? If anything, they seem more friendly.

Yes... you have to BEWARE of your amount of clearance when driving because the Teins make the front end very low (2" drop). However, they also provide the best & most aggressive appearance so that's the tradeoff... the fact is that even a 1" front drop would require one to drive more carefully over speed bumps, down slopes, driveways, up driveways, etc. Just be conscious of what you are doing, and be careful not to hit anything when parking. I've scraped my front a few times, but it seems to scratch the bottom of the front bumper, so it's not even noticeable unless you crawl under the car and l00k.
