So hears the situation...I recently got a alignment done and they told me my rear wheel bearings where shot. I really cant hear any unusual noise other then roadnoise from my (toyo proxes 4s). So Being doubtful I decided to read up a little bit on here about the issue. I jacked up the car and check for play/movement in all 4 tires....nothing
So im thinking ok they where just hearing things. Couple days later my front drivers tire starts making some noise (woomp woomp woomp) sometimes driving and around corners.
EDITED THREAD: ALL 4 BEARINGS ARE TOAST?....

First check to make sure the lug nuts are tightened. Its happened to me before and it makes that noise.
If they already told you that your rear wheel bearings were bad I would say that is your issue.

I will recheck them for sure. I just had the car at discount tire getting some lugs swapped if they dident tighten them all the way geezz Originally Posted by def1

It does not sound like the rear, but I could be wrong. Any farther input guys?!

I Also used to have bad wheel bearings and made the exact same noise .
Like you i thought it was my tires that were bad so i ignored it for 4 months . Then i got new tires and sound was still there so i took it to a couple places to get it checked and there was no play at all in the bearings .
So about a week later i saw a guy i knew and asked him about it since all he does is built motors majorly Evo's ( Guakiem at JMS racing) and told me to pull the rotor and axle off and check it for play , and that where i found that it was bad .

Retightend the lugs in star formation. Still making noise =/. I only hear noise in the front while coming to a stop, and cornering to the left. Bump still need help guys.

Its better to do both , its inexpensive to do .
Got both of mine done at the dealer .
Parts it was 70 bucks for both and labor was 100 .
What i did so i paid only 100 labor was took the spindles so they could press them in an dout but i think on the Evo's they are not pressed but just bolted one , if so its a easy fix and cheap one at that , around 70 for both at Napa .
I also noticed car wasted less gas and drove smoother after the change .
Good luck !

Sadly, our bearings are part of the wheel hub. We can't just do bearings. So its not as cheap as a Lancer. Contact RussellIM - he can get you the best price on the hub assembly.

Thanks smike Ill shoot him a pm. Turns out that all 4 Bearings are shot. How...I dont have the slightest idea car only has 39k on it. What really gets me is before I bought the car the owner replaced the front passanger wheel bearing..now its toast
Pervious owner abuse I guess..I would really like to install these myself. Rather then paying 500+bux for labor. Any writeups or advise would be awwwesome!

I dont think its possible they have to be pressed in .
But the way to get it cheaper is take the spindle off and go in another car to the dealer and talk to a tech there to do it as a side job .
Napa for parts !

Just looked up the parts on Mitsubishiparts and it is the same way as lancer , it has the bearing pressed in so there is no way to be replaced without a press .

The bearings are in the hub which is one piece I think. So idk if the press is needed.?Originally Posted by 02-Lancer-Es
