Help setting up coilovers with canisters
I used to use Aragosta coilovers without canister for my Evo IX GT and loved them alot. Recently I purchased a set of Aragosta coilovers with canister (to adjust bound/rebound)and am having trouble getting the car to feel right.
Is anyone here running coilovers with canisters willing to share his setup with me so that I can work on it? I understood from a friend that coilovers with canisters are alot more rigid in nature and damping does not have to be set too high like maybe just 4-5 clicks from the lowest value. Does that statement stand true? The last time I went on a trackday I cranked up the damping really high like I did with my previous shocks and the rear was skipping literally. Tried turning damper down a few clicks and it still feels really wired.
I'm not sure what my spring rates are but I assume that they are like about the same as TEIN Super Racing. Maybe around 10/8. I believe that's the value of most racing coilovers with canisters. Can't seem to find any info about them on the internet, even good ole google didn't give me any information whatsoever. Found out that the Aragosta in Belgium and Japan are 2 different companies and mine is from Japan.

Honestly, sounds like you've gotten in over your head with the setup. Do you know what is controlled by each of the damping adjustments? It will be difficult for people to tell you what you are doing right or wrong if you don't know what damping adjustments are being made, where your problems are occuring and what the rest of your setup is like.
There is no "one" spring rate for remote reservoir dampers. A good start to diagnosing your handling issues would be to find out what spring rates you are running.

Yep totally understand what you mean. I do understand that the info given above is very raw as I was typing the above post in a rush and so is this post as I'm outstationed ATM. I'm just curious about what is the "norm" for coilovers with canisters. Would the damping value be somewhere towards the soft, med or hard side. Is bound rebound normally on the slow, med, fast side for a permanant road circuit.
I'll put up more details when I get back to Singapore later tonight.
By the way, would there be a recommended setting by the manufacturers? And by asking what is the rest of my setup like, what other stuff should I mention besides spring rate, camber, toe and stabalizers?

Also just to be clear, there is a difference between piggyback canisters (like on KW V3s) and remote reservoirs (like JRZ, Moton). Piggyback canisters just give you a little more fluid capacity and better cooling....with remote reservoirs you can add nitrogen.
