Perfect Ride Height...

What is the perfect ride hieght before getting into to much trouble with suspension? Pretty much i would like to know what everyone else is set to on their coilovers w/ stock wheels. I'm planning on getting some this month. I would just like to know a lot more on our cars suspension.

And yes, i have been using the search button =)

Thanks members.

also: i just wanted to do this for everyone looking to get rid of their wheel gap, but w/o losing good suspension.

I would not go lower than -1.5 in with coil-overs. Which, I would not get for street driving. Any lower and you are really screwing with the geometry.

so 1.5 all around is just at the border? (in a sense) I will be using my stock wheels.

A proper set of springs can do that, work with the geometry and make the car handle better.

Perfect ride height is when it scrapes the ants off the pavement but doesn't drag.

^ looks good, but that will handle like poop with an Evo.

But we are getting to that - it really depends on what you are after, $$$ you have, and racing you do.

Since you are only after looks, I would strongly advise to look into a proper spring set. It will look good and handle better.

What do you have against coil-overs for street use? What's the difference between lowering your car 1.5 inches using coil-overs vs. 1.5 inches with drop springs?

Because we do not have drop springs. We have performance springs, which are designed for our struts, have correct rates, and have excellent build quality.

Coil-overs, like the lower level ones the OP is thinking of, have valving all over the place, incorrect spring rates, and low quality of parts.

One increases handling, one decreases.

And running 2.5k to 3k coil-overs on the street is just nuts in my book.

Do Tein springs hurt handling? I bought my car with them and the car seems very low with them.

S-techs are the WORST out there for this car. They are too low, too soft, and will kill your struts. Did you not search and read up on this? One of the most common buying mistakes for this car.

Yeah, s-techs are the fail...might as well save up for a coilover setup now because in a couple months you will need to buy 4 new struts.

That sounds like an Ok starting point. What coil-overs, what spring rates?
