i bought an evo VIII a while ago. the ad said it was completely stock. when i inspected the car i noticed a Greddy type rs bov, and a carbonfiber rollbar in the trunk. it looked clean and drove perfect, so i bought it. since then i have been finding little aftermarket suprises, i have a hotchnkis swaybar, and a turboXS manual boost controller. anyway... the point is i dont excatly know whats stock and whats not, and i dont know anyone else with an evo to compare to. my question is what are the stock color of the springs. because mine are like a faded orange. also, teh brackets on me swaybar snapped so i was wondering how much do u think they are gonna cost me? and this is gonna sound like a retarded question, but this is my first turboed car, so dont flame me, but what does harder and softer mean on my bov, im running around 20psi, so should i go harder or softer.

thanks in advance.

1. Do not touch that boost controller. Leave as it is, and let whoever tunes your car play with it.

2. Stock springs are black, so I yes, you prolly have aftermarket springs. The only ones I can think of in that color range are Swift or Tanabe. Jack the car up and look for labels.

3. You'll have a tough time finding swaybar brackets since alot of the aftermarket sway bars require the use of the stock piece. I have a stock bar and brackets if you're interested in them...

well with the DV's and BOV's that i have used you can usually change the spring inside to a different rate to accomodate different boost levels and drivability.

So im assuming that harder and softer is for the spring inside? I would say if it drives fine now and holds boost not problem then dont touch it. But harder would be for more boost and make drivability crappier and softer the opposite.

I would get a tactrix cable or something like that and see what youve got on there for a tune. Chances are someone has played with the ECU if an MBC was installed.

Good luck!
