Question Ultra High Performance All Seasons

Looking for the best 255/40-18 all season tires and the three that I like the looks of; and they are, Toyo Proxes 4's, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus's and the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons. Has anyone ran these tires and what did you think? There are only a few selections in this size. Thanks for your input!

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Also check out the Goodyear Eagle GT tires.

I ran the GY F1 A/S on my Evo. Good tire, stiff sidewall and responsive. Plus, working in CT winters.

We've had many complaints on the wear and noise issue with the Goodyears. Of the bunch above, my vote would be the Michelin.

When I was looking last fall, my options were the Yokohama Avid w4's, Goodyear F1's, Michilins, and a couple of off brands. I ended up with the Yoko's due to timing of need, and there are days where I wish I would have gone Michilin or Goodyear. Right now since it was a toss up between the Yoko's and the Goodyears, I must say I would have chose the Goodyears. These of course were stock sizing 235/45/17's, but I wouldn't think size would have to do with it, except width. Stay away from the solid center patch like the Avid's I am running. Get something that is naturally siped from the factory, or has natural bite in several areas as well. Small block patterns....etc.

Hope that helps.

Previously on my other car I always ran toyo proxe 4 and never had a problem. I currently have the goodyear on my Evo though and love them. I didnt have wear issues or noise issues. Toyo are prob a more affordable choice of the two. Both are good. I never had a problem with either.

what about BF Goodrich? Michelin and BF Goodrich have a deal that u get 70 rebate if u buy 4 tires. but the Michelins are more expensive. So is BF Goodrich a lot less better? Or should I just go with Goodyear?

Not a big fan of Goodyears... I would go with the Michelins or Toyos... probably leaning towards Michelins though.

Only BFG in the 255/40-18 is a sport summer tire. OP needs an a/s.

I liked the Proxes 4 in everything but SNOW. They are horrible.

I would go with the Michelins.

I have the Michelin Pilot sport AS in 235/45 17 as my non track tire. It has reasonably good grip, great ride, and excellent treadwear. Rain channels work for NW rain storms, and there's very good wet traction.

Smikeevo's probably harder on his tires than I am, so his experience with Goodyear Eagle F1 shouldn't be overlooked.

From what I read on the Michelin website, they look like the BEST A/S tire out there!
