RANT: Suspension misfortune

Soooo, I'm a technician at a Honda dealership. We were WICKED slow today, so I decided to pull the Evo in to install my new RobiSpec springs and RSB. The car was on Tanabe GF210's. In my opinion they made the car feel like crap. Just like I replaced the Tein S-techs on my first Evo with Swifts. I figured I'd give RobiSpec's a try. They keep the factory rake which is defiantly benifcial.

Well I get to ripping everything apart when I see previous owner stripped the nut and shaft of the one front struts where it bolts to the top hat. He had two nuts thread on to lock the OEM nut inplace, I guess. I put it in the spring compressor started to disassemble everything ignorent to the fact that it was stripped at the time and then finally relized it's stripped AFTER I had already tried to take it off. I figured I'd just wait until I can afford some Bilstein HD's. Well, too late. The nut will NOT go back on. I don't want to re-thread it the strut. I had the parts dept. order one new strut from a Mitsubishi dealer and I won't get it for another two days. About an hour later, I decided it'd be a better idea to replace both front struts, they didn't look like they were in perfect shape anyway. The one looked like it might be on the verge of going bad. The rears look almost new! But anyway, since it's now after 4pm, the Mitsubishi dealer can't promise the other strut until this Friday! The said they usually don't take any orders after 4pm And god, the price of an OEM KYB is....well.... yikes.

I originally thought.... "ohh I'll just get some Bilstein HD's like I had originally planned!!!" I wouldn't be spending much more. Well too bad they're friggin' back ordered everywhere. I can't leave my car sitting there that long. So I had to do what I had to do, which was spend god awful amounts of money on factory struts. I'm sure I may have been able to found them cheaper else where, but whatever...

So now, my car is stuck on my lift, undriveable due to that strut being stripped to hell until atleast Wednesday! Oh well, worse could have happened. The RSB went on with zero problems... of course. Atleast I have a spare bay

Sorry just a rant. This post doesn't really mean much, I just wanted to ***** about my bad luck today.

Ouch man, that's terrible. I'm sure everyone has ran into something like this were you think it's going to be a few hour job and then you get thrown a curve ball. Good luck though, hope it gets back on the ground soon and you don't get reamed for it taking up a lift.

P.S. What dealership do you work for?

I hate when such a little thing like a nut, keeps the car undrivable.
Sorry about your misfortunes

Ciocca was actually my first thought. LOL. I stopped by that place to look at a very sharp blue S2K that they had out front a few months ago, and got swarmed by a mass of sales people. You should have seen their faces when I told them I just wanted a pic of the Evo next to it.

Dude, I have all 4 stock struts sitting at home you can have. Save yourself the money and drive down to Philly and get them.

Got the car home today!

Damn, those RobiSpec's make a differance over "mad tyte JDM" slam springs. I had Swifts on my Frist Evo and I defiantly rate them to be damn near equal in performance.

They're just the RobiSpec springs... not KW's. I think that's what you thought I meant.... I wish.
