I've noticed that my steering wheel tends to shake more when I brake at higher speeds and it increases more when more pedal pressure is applied. I've been thinking it may be build up on the rotor, but there is one thing that makes me think other wise. It seems like I can hear something loose, or moving around a little bit when I am braking from around 20 mph to 0. Thats what makes me think its not build up on the rotor, but I could be wrong. Any ideas at what I should check/look at suspension wise or take the pads out and look at them? They seem to have a decent amount of life to them still. I'm kinda lost...

 

Its pad material transfer.

 

Allrighty, so you think I should use 120 grit sand paper on the rotors? I read that someone used that on some of the pulsing rotor threads...

That might help, but if its really bad, you will have to turn the rotor (if there is enough material to do that).

 

Ok, I will try the sand paper and see if it helps any. My brother's evo did this a few times, I don't think it shook as bad as mine though.

 

rotors are warped they need to be turned.If you can't turn them,this calls for a new set.just buy new rotors and pads to take care of it..

 

I'll take it to mitsu and see what they can do about it. Hopefully free, if not, I'll do the work myself

See the thing that makes me wonder is that it was more like of an overnight change. And I don't recall using the brakes hard at all. I mean sure I felt a little movement in the wheel when using the brakes at higher speeds before, but now at higher speeds its just ridiculous. Also I can hear something moving around almost every time when I am using the brakes at lower speeds like coming to a stop in a parkinglot. I really do think something is loose.

 

Yup they were warped...A LOT! The creeking noise that I was hearing was the pads slowly moving in and out. The thing that really confused me was that it didn't always shake when I applied the same pressure on the pedal at the same speeds.

They turned them, not warrantied because they are a wear item, but whatever. I was surprised how much sheot those warped rotors caused.

If they start to warp again, I'll just buy some better ones.

I guess the guy that worked on my car is friends with fathouse.

 

Its more the pads than the rotors in terms of pad transfer. If they warp again, look into changing the pads.

 

Yea, they just fuxed up again. Not even 1k miles.

I swear something is loose and causing this to slowly happen. As soon as I started hearing noises this crap started to happen. Ugh...
