So as long as I can remember, the right rear wheel/suspension area makes a clunking sound every time the car goes over a speed bump or some sort of bump/small pot hole on the road. It doesn't make any noise while turning or on flat surfaces, but as soon as there's any sort of bump or what not on the road, it makes a clunking sound coming from that wheel/suspension corner. I've tried softening the dampening but it didn't make any difference.
I've driven nearly 20K on these coilovers and the spring rates are quite stiff, I believe 10k/8k, I am considering getting softer springs since i'm a daily driver.

Are your springs snug with your perch and top mount?
I believe this is a common problem with these coils, or majority of the coils for that matter.

I have never checked honestly, they were installed by a friend and then ride height matched by a local suspension tuning shop so i'm sure they would have noticed.

are you referring to one of the locking rings on the coilover?Originally Posted by Larrykeen

I have Bc type Br coils on my S2000, take a look at your coils. Make shure theres is NO gap between the spring and the top hat. I lowered my s2000 this way and its very bad for the strut. You should have 3 adjustment rings on the coil. If the spring is how im sitting raise it back up untill its touched the top hat then turn the ring like 8-10 more clicks. then lower it by lowering the whole shock into where you bolt it up on the bottom. IF its still making the noise, then you have a blown strut.
Hope this helps!

Springs are snug and pre-load was set today, still getting the noise. It only occurs when I'm going over bumpy roads and what not. Any other thoughts?

Check all the mounting hardware. I had a similar noise once. I had tightend them well, But they needed a little more torque. They might have losend up after the install.
