Tire/lowering help
Tire/lowering help
I need help,, I just received my Grids and put them on with the tires i bought, and i am not happy!! NOTHING against Rota, it probably was my fault. I have Tanabe springs and (was going) to will be rolling my fenders tomorrow..... OK..Should i buy coilovers and lower it..or buy bigger tires? Bottom line i am not happy!!!
They are a little shorter than normal, but by only half inch overall diameter compared to stock. Really can't correct wheel gap by running a larger diameter tire w/out the possibility of rubbing issues. Only way to properly close the gap is by lowering the car.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
A 245/35 is 15mm (.6 in) shorter in diameter. The 245/40 is 9mm (.35 in) taller.
15mm shorter is noticeable, as you can see in the current pics.
A 255/35 would be 9mm taller, but depending on offset, can cause rubbing.
Bottom line, I would have gone with a 245/40/18.

Yeah i should of gone with a 245/40/18 but now im stuck with what i got, yeas i could buy new tires but then ill have some tires to sell used (money loss)
I guess its a reason to get coilovers so i can lower it .5" plus i guess i needed to get coilovers anyways.

yeah i could try to sell, but what i was told and i havent the best information, but if i go any bigger i will have to adjust my camber and i dont think (could be wrong) the capability with stock suspension. Does anyone know this to be true?
You can adjust camber with stock suspension but you will have to get an alignment from a shop that knows what they are doing. I dont know how much you will have to roll your fenders but you will need to. With coilovers you can adjust the camber yourself on the camber plate, but with stock suspension camber bolts. You can also get aftermarket camber plates for the stock struts to get even more camber if you like.
