Broke Strut tower bolt

My car has a broke front strut tower bolt. the bolt snapped a half inch off with the nut attached. I have OEM struts. What options do I have to fix this besides buying aftermarket camber plates?

Sorry if this is a stupid post. Ive been researching for 30 minutes, I have a headache and Im going to bed.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks

He must be referring to the one on the top of the strut(3 bolts that are pressed in.) The lower strut bolts can be replaced.

Drill out the bolt and replace or get a new top strut mount (not cheap).

My friend stripped one of his bolts completely... (the 3 bolts that come through the strut tower)

We drilled through, and put a grade 8 bolt / washer and nut through.

works.

i believe those are just pressed in, like a wheel stud.

I ended up going to a family auto parts store with the upper plate. I bought a stud, same length, same thread pitch, but it fit not as snug as the OEM stud. I wish I had pictures. Still waiting on my camera to come in the mail.

that is the actual shock stud isn't it? Mine was just part of the OEM camber plate, not the shock itself. I'm not sure if that can be repaired.

Maybe someone else can chime in?

My friend had cross threaded one of the upper strut mount studs like that. Literally this morning we popped out the stud and replaced it with a new M10x1.25 bolt. It would be better to replace it with a new press fit stud, but it worked great as a temporary solution. We had to hold the bolt in place with electricians tape and screw down the new nut very gently to keep the bolt from turning before it put enough tension on the bolt to keep it from spinning in place.

You broke the actual piston rod on the damper (shock). You cannot repair that. Time to look for a replacement strut. If your car has alot of mileage I would recommend replacing both front struts at the same time. Should be able to find something used for cheap.

Here's how my problem looks like in detail.. is it similar to yours? if yes/no than whats your suggestion ... your explanation of the SOLUTION seemed pretty good.. but im not sure how to approach it... first thing first is my strut similar to yours?

TIA!!!!
