Got those same wheels for over 3 years now. I've been running 255/40 tire. One huge downfall for these wheels is the weight. They are close to 21 lbs

^ You should be ok in regards to fender clearence.

If you want a tire thats gonna be quiet on the highway and thats your mainly looking for, you want a tire that is not very aggressive at all. I would say Nt05's are not what your looking for. You can't have it all when it comes to tires, evrything is a trade off.

Don't track my car. Not sure what offset you got but I had to get my rear fenders rolled. I run RT-615. Its been 3 years since I bought them, so I know there is something better out there now for track.

Can you post a pic of the wheels please?
And what offset are you going with?
I'm going with 17x9 +35mm with Nitto NT-01 255/40/17's.
Those will clear my giant W6A Willwood 6-Piston Calipers on my GSX.

Here's a wheel profile template that I used to make sure the calipers fit.

I would be curious to see how these stack up in weight compared to other 17x9 sized wheels.

how will these rims handle on the 1/4 mile ??

i know there good for time attack but just wanted to see if neone has any knowledge on that subject

also how is the evo gunna respond to a 255/40 tire ?? any rubbing on turns or anything of this matter ??

i know im asking alot but i just want to see what everyone else experience is wit 17 inch rims that have a 255/40/17 tire on it

thanks !
I run 17x9's +35 offset with 255/40/17 tires and have no rubbing issues. Car is only slightly lowered. I join time attack trackdays and run them on AD 08s. I am very happy with this wheel/tire combo, but maybe will try some BFG R1s someday.
I've heard that 255/40/17 tires will give you a bit of a slower turn in but I didn't notice any. Camber up front is -2.0 and -1.5 at the rear.

Hope this helps.

Find a tire that you want and google it! That's what I did. Try http://www.tiresdirect.net/TOYO_Prox..._94W_P4718.cfm cheap! Personally, I'd tell you to go with the Toyo R1R's!!! Great Price! That's also what Mitshbishi puts on the FQ400!!! And Rhys Millen drove the fast time up pikes peak hill climb on these tires. They are bad a$$! http://www.formulad.com/drivers/rhys-millen.html

Unless you need R Comps, I recommend the Z1 Star Specs.

Got my set at discount tire and I've ran them on the track, no complaints here.

If I read the other posts correctly, I think just occasional track use.
