Coilover Issue
Coilover Issue
I got some used HKS Hypermax coilovers and one of the rear ones is soft. Not only that, but it makes the car sit low. No matter how many times I tried adjust it, it goes right back to the same stance. Would I have to replace the whole thing or just a certain part of the coilover?
I think that is a sign of a blown shock. Not sure if HKS does it but you would probably need to send just the shock (remove the top hat and spring usually) and send that to HKS.
From what I understand one way to test if the shock is blown is to press down a couple times on the corner each corner of the car and see how long it takes for it to steady out. if it takes a while a shock has gone bad usually. Also is there any oily resdue anywhere on the coilover?

Thanks for the quick response. There is no oil or anything leaking. If that's the case, I might just want to buy an entire new one since I wouldn't have anything to replace with, if I send it in.
Yeah, a great way to tell is if you bounce the corners and see how long it takes to return to normal stance, or lift your car and check for any play when you shake the wheel while its still on the hub.
I'll have to try that when I get backto the States next week. Thanks!
