A-046 vs. A-048 Advans?

What is the difference between A-046 and A-048 Advans? I believe that my EVO came with A-046's stock. Are A-048's a better tire? What should I replace the stockers with? I know the stock A-046's can be expensive. Is there a replacement that works as well and is cheaper. Opinions...?

Most people on here will say, "get the Dunlop Star Specs".

The A048 is a track and comp tire, while the A046 is a high perf summer tire. If you're replacing the stockers, youll want to go with the A046.

Thanks for the info. Are replacement A-046's available presently and do you have any idea how much I would expect to pay to replace them vs. the Dunlop Star Specs mentioned? The reason I as is I have a set of the original A-046's from my '05 EVO that have been sitting in storage and I was considering using them on my '06 instead of buying new tires. I'm presently running an 18" combo so I could just switch back to my stock wheels. I'm not sure how long tires last in storage. I would rather use them then have them go bad.

The A046s are way more expensive than the Z1*. The performance is nearly the same. The Z1* are the most popular tire.

OK, I guess I should substantiate.

My opinion for the "best" street tire on the market, that is the closest to an R-compound, and performs very well on the track, is the RE-11. Doesn't overheat like the Dunlops, and has stiffer sidewalls and better feel than the Yokohamas.

Of course, that's just my opinion. Should have specified that before.
