I've had INVO's before...good tire, but a definate rung below the ones being mentioned here. Federal 595RS-r and the Hankook Ventus R-S3 look to be contenders...however all I can find on them was individual reviews. Nobody has done a noteworthy comparison between these two tires and any other established tire on the list. If someone can link me to eith a Federal or Hankook compairison test (not review), then I will see about adding them in.

Chris, in this class of tire all it really comes down to is price. They are all so competitive amongst each other get the one you can find for the cheapest and you will have made the right decision. Star Specs and NT05's go back and forth between which one is cheaper (depending on rebates and specials at the time). But you can't go wrong (performance wise) with any tire here.

I love the NT-05 as noted above but check the difference from the two... both are the same size at 255/40/17... more testing to come...

Grippy compared to what ... a wet bar of soap?

i see the NT05's only have 235-40-17 and a 255-40

which would be my best bet to go with one a stock BBs wheel

The T/A KDW 2 doesn't compare to the tires on this list. It's a fine tire (little loud though), but not an ultimate grip street tire. I'd slot it a notch down from these and put them along side the other tires asked about previously. Good, but not great.

Unfortunately these are really all you can get in this class of tire, at this price range, that fit our car. BFG has the KD (not KDW) that competes with these tires...but the KD doesn't come in a size for us. GoodYear has the Eagle F1 Supercar that competes with these, but the price is aweful and there is no size to fit our car in that tire either.

All other tires are either below these in performance (BFG KDW, etc), or not a realistic street tire even though they meet DOT requirements (Nitto NT01, etc).

For an Evo bent on performance this list is your best bet.

Agreed. Which is why I am reading this thread! I only have them because I bought my rims/tires used and they came with the rims. Now I am thinking between the Nittos or Z1s in 255/35/18 or RT-615s in 265/35/18. I have had the RT-615s on my stock rims in 245/45/17 and while ok in the dry were downright scary in the rain on the highway. So the Z1s may win me over there. I need to do more research...

I really like my Kuhmo's in the dry. I would take them any day of the week over a heavier tire such as the Dunlop.

Wet.....I just can't get any grip on an autocross course with them. LOTS of power on understeer. There are still some setup issues to deal with, but they just don't grip in the rain very well. I think this is where the Dunlop does well with its weight, and sidewall construction.
