thinking bout rotors

maybe its completely stupid but

have anybody compared braking distance of different rotors but with same pads

is the only difference between 20 and 200 dollar rotor only resistance for heat and fading, are rotors responsible for how soon u r gonna stop or its all about pads??

Well the resistance against heat and fading would determine how long you can keep braking hard. Once that point is reached then you will not stop as soon as you like.

Braking aggressiveness is in the pads, not the rotors. Rotors are for weight savings, material hardness, and most importantly...cooling features.

Reduction in rotational mass makes a big difference compared to reduction static mass. An example is a light weight flywheel making an engine rev much faster when you only lose a few pounds of rotational mass. Using light weight two piece rotor should improve the car's performance. I've never had the chance to experience this with rotors as i'm still using the stock rotors. Maybe someone else can comment.

It still does not make the car slow down faster. The pads is where its at. A more aggressive pad with stock rotors will slow the car faster than OEM pads with the lightest rotor.

Your comments refer to unsprung mass. Benefits are with handling more than braking.

^ I agree that it will benefit more with handling than braking. With that said, do you have any rotors that you would recommend that isn't too expensive but atleast the level of the stock rotors.

For a 1 piece replacement, I like the DBA 4000 Series or the RacingBrake slotted. Both are great direct replacement rotors, and nicely vented. Cheaper replacements would be something like RotorPros or Powerslot. Both can be had very cheaply compared to the stockers, DBA, and RB rotors, but the metallurgy and design (vane design that is) isn't as superior. For a dd evo they are fine. I would recommend the RB or DBA though for an upgrade though.

Check out motorsportsperformancegroup.us for great prices on RB products. MAP also carry the full line of DBA and RB products, as do other vendors on this site.
