Another "Pick my brake pad" post

Need front and rear pads for Evo IX. Aggressive street use only.

Looking for:

No squeak
VERY low dust
Excellent initial bite
Minimal fade
Low price

Per the sticky, I think I should be considering:

Axxis Ultimates
Girodisc Magic
Ferodo DS2500
Racing brake ET500
Carbotech Bobcats (high end of budget but I ran on my WRX and LOVED them)

Let me know what you think is my best choice!

I would go with these: "Racing brake ET500"

I put them on my friends evo X and they have a awesome initial bite

+1 for RB

Not a fan of the Girodisc myself. Wasn't as good as the rave made it out to be...

So how do the EBC reds, ET500s, Stoptechs and Axxis ULT's compare?

Stoptech's and Axxis ULT's seem to be around $130 and the other two are higher. Are the other two worth the extra 50% in price? Can you compare the Stoptech's and Axxis ULT's?

Never ran the Stoptech's or EBC, so I have no comment on those. The Axxis ULTs are pretty damn good. I ran those pads for a year, prior to the Girodisc, and they were more aggressive than the Girodisc, and the infamous Hawks in every way. However, I had an annoying squeel I was never able to get rid of. It was very random. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work. OVerall, good pad though.

However, I really like the RB pads. Yes, it is alittle more expensive than the others you're comparing to, but they're great pads nonetheless. Little dust, great bite, and quite nice for daily driving.

Lastly, if you're concerned about your budget, consider the RacingBrake ET-300 pads. They're a great set of daily driving pads, slight less aggressive than the 500s, and alittle more budget friendly. I also think they're more in line with the other pads you are considering in terms of price.

ET500's seem good. I have them on my car and I'm happy with them. I would not suggest the 300's as I don't think they would have enough bite, but I've never ran them.

I would not even bother with the Axxis or the Magic Pads.

If I wasn't running the 500's, the Satisfied GS5's or Ferodo DS2500's would be my other choice's.

to my driving ds2500 were weak in modulation, and had a very poor bite.

i had good luck with ferodo ds29 front, ds19 back. only caveat is occasional minor squeek, but rare and imho a non-issue. no dust, and obviously (since this is an eduro pad), no fade.

I have those Ferodo DS2500's on now. The initial bite is pretty good, but they are dusty though, that is the only down side. I installed them probably 3,000 miles ago and the minor squeak going <5 miles an hour is almost gone. You must really grease them up and then break them in properly and the squeak will be a non issue from the get go.

A good pad, though, for my driving style.
