PSS9 coilovers height...

Hey guys, I need help from the suspension gurus out there, I just installed a brand new set of PSS9's on my 9, and I followed bilstein's settings for ride height.
Now the cars looks funny, the front is lower than the rear ( the back of the side skirt where the rear wheel starts is a good 3 cm higher than the front)
I was wondering, why can't I set the PSS9 to stock ride height? what would happen if I do?

PS: if you read my previous threads you will see I already had some PSS9 that I got used, no instructions provided, and I did set them to stock height. I just want to make sure I don't destroy my new suspension.

Thanks guys, some pics to follow

Ed

Looking good.

If I were in your position I would go to a specialty shop to get the corners leveled. The consequences of having it set up incorrectly would be drastic.

Did you measure stock ride height? You should be dropping each corner the same, say 1.5'' front 1'' rear. Stock ride height is not perfect for each corner either, so you need to keep the difference the stock ride height has from side to side. For instance lets say Front left is 23 3/4 front right is 23 1/2 (stock) you would want to drop it to 22 1/4" FL and 22'' FR. Understand? these are made up numbers dont use them

it would be ideal to bring the car to a specialist, sadly there's none around in my country
I understand the drop thing, I guess what I want to know is can I go to stock ride height with the PSS9's? the manual says not to do that, but what would happen if I do, would they blow?
Thanks guys

Why would you want to go to stock ride height? you should lower the car at least a bit...

I figured stock height won't alter handling characteristics, that and also I don't want to scrape my lip every time I pull out of my garage
Bump for some help, what would happen if I set the PSS9's to stock ride height?

are you serious haha the evo ix is sky high stock. Dropping it an ich won't really alter the handling characteristics.....just try it yourself. If your tracking the car heavily, the ride height will have a drastic influence on the corning of the car, but on the street, a slight drop won't change much.

Even if you drop the car by say 1.5" you could always get the Whiteline Roll Center Adjustment Kit which will help the car handle better with a bigger drop.

Ed is a serious pilot and his question is valid. I'm guessing that he hadn't received an answer, because none of us know what it is, myself included.

Ed, have you tried contacting Bilstein? Perhaps post on MLR. They may be more likely to run the PSS9s. Good luck.

Hey Felix! thanks for the reply. I will try to contact bilstein, although last time I tried I did not have any luck...
I was searching some on MLR and there isn't much info. I guess I will go as high as bilstein suggests, get the car corner balanced and aligned and then see how it handles.

For best results, I would use a longer main spring if you want to raise the car any more.

Hey Andrew what's up! thanks for the help, now can you tell me more about that option, do you carry any longer springs, if so how much are they?
So, if I go higher with the PSS9's I will damage them?

You will be preloading the main spring a lot if you keep going up, which has it's drawbacks.

How long are your current springs?

How does it look with the drop? Post a pic of the entire car so we can see how it sits.

I will post pics of the car as it sits right now and I will also post some measurements against the stock ones. However, I can not post how long are the springs since they are already mounted and all if anybody knows how long the PSS9 springs are, please post it.
Andrew, on another note: what sway bar for the rear would you recommend to go along with the PSS9's?
Thanks guys

We like the Whiteline 24mm rear bar. It's a bit smaller than most recommend but we like that the best when it comes down to it.

It'll be really tough to recommend a length without knowing what you have now. If you lower the threads down enough you can measure. It's probably 170 or 200 mm.

A side pic of the car would be good too.
