Hey guys--

I have Megan Street Series Coilovers and recently my Rear Passenger Coilover is blown. I'm hearing loud clunk only at that corner of the car. Is it possible safely drive the car on stock struts for both Driver Rear and Passenger Rear while maintaining Coilovers up front until I get them rebuilt in the next 2-3 weeks? Any advice is welcome

 

Spring rates are probably gonna be all screwy.

Are you sure its the strut gone bad vs something come loose or a worn out tie rod, ball joint, swaybar bushing/mount? Definitely rule out other possibilities before jumping to one conclusion and sending out your shock to get rebuilt.

One other thing, send out the rears in a pair if you do. So they get rebuild the same way and have at least close to matching profiles left/right.

Have you check to make sure its actually blown, and not just something loose?

 

Thats what I was thinking. I'm just hoping adjusting the bump might help maybe 17-20 clicks to soft.



I have checked, only the passenger-rear is leaking oily- black fluid and settling down on the threads.

 

I'd say thats a blown shock.

 

Hah, yeah thats a pretty good sign...

 

I say you wll be just fine. A local evo came to the autox with coilovers on the fronts and stock struts on the rears because he was getting them rebuilt.. He was actually one of the faster cars out that day.

 

I would chalk that up to the driver more than the setup though.
