Tire / Wheel Fitment Questions
You are on the right track knowing the trailing arm needs replacing. SSB arms are the best for sure. Heres one of our better threads on fitting the 10" plus wheels. Comb through the thread. There are posts about the RPF1's as well (see post no. 38 as a starting point for the RPF1) https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mo...ody-evo-3.html
Cheers, Joe
Thank you and yes ive read that one definitely good info, i guess im trying to figure out what size tire and brand to run for a 18x10 +38..... 265/35 or 265/30 and whats a good street tire, brand wise that people have success with, theres just so many options my car isnt tracked its just a fun street car. Lots and lots of info on the forums just cant figure out best options for tires and sizes that work
I personally think 10jj is overkill on an Evo. It's just extra unnecessary weight that complicates fitment too. Best is just 8.5-9jj, even 9.5jj is already unnecessary. For best look fitment, 9jj with et28-30 is the perfect one.

Ive been running Federal 595's & i really like them in the 240 tread wear. Feds do run a size wide so a 265 is more like a 275 in section width. I currently have 2 sets of these tires & would buy again
what is the best fit for a evo 8 with stock body running ssb rear arms 18x9.5 or 18x10 both +38 offset , this car is just a street monster nothing autocross etc, definitely want to be at least 9+ for the deep dish look of the RPF1, i guess i'm stuck at the cross roads go 17 or go 18 and if i go 18 do i do 9.5 or 10. i don't wanna spend all this money and find out i ordered the wrong stuff and the looks terrible. been trying to do a bunch of research but its hit or miss to get the right answers lol, guess i'm looking for people that have already tested it all out and know what works lol, what size do you run? don't mind my million questions
Ive been on 17's since the beginning but 18's do look better in some cases. 17's have to be on the aggressive side both offset & tire width to look good IMO.
Let me know if you have other questions / Joe
Heres my ride for reference @Boostindsm22
Just so you know, my set up has zero rub as i use to track this EvO & tire rub can not be tolerated
Years ago, i wanted something on the aggressive side & you appear to want the same
They are the EVO's. Here they are before the mount. Trust me, they run wide & are super beefy (265/40/17's). They are rated Extra Load & IMHO the side wall is very stiff. The quality of the outer tire appears high quality

Need some help on best course of action for some fitment and suspension adjustments I need to make. I have done some searching on this thread and others for my wheel and size but just want some advice on my "plans."
Quick Background:
Please help and advise or let me know what else would be needed to calculate!
Thank you!
Quick Background:
- Purchased a 06 IX MR with the following:
- BC Racing ER Coilovers - Driver front is blown
- Work Emotion 11r 18" Wheels - 18x9.5 +38
- Horrible Federal tires - 265/35 18's
- Replace the coilovers with a set of Ohlins Road and Track
- Keep the Work Emotion wheels
- But what size tires should I go down to now or in the future?
- Can the suspension be replaced without reducing the tire size for clearance?
- I would prefer to keep these wheels but if they are going to wreak havoc -- I will remove them
- But what size tires should I go down to now or in the future?
- The car currently does not have front fender liners due to rubbing and clearance issues
- I have a set and want to put these back on when I replace the suspension with the Ohlins
- What do I need to do to make this happen?
- I want the car to handle well, not have any fitment or clearance issues and don't really care about looks or ride height
Please help and advise or let me know what else would be needed to calculate!
Thank you!

Hi Ray @rayman0690
Well, those 265/35's are just about right for that 9.5" wheel & the +38 offset is very rear fender friendly
Let me know if you have other questions, Joe

- Sure, switching from those BC coilovers to the Ohlins should not affect your clearance. The strut dimensions are very close to the same
- Yes, my front fender liners have been beat on as well. Even though you have the +38's the 9.5" wheel & the 265 tire can work into the liners at lock steering positions. Liner rub can be reduced with a ride height adjustment but some liner rub may always be possible. Question: Are you running a front wheel spacer?

I have to pull a front wheel and check for the spacer and size and get back to you. I imagine there is one there based on my reading and the fact it seems to clear the OEM Brembos.
Cant say if this particular Enkei will fit over the Brembo's but its very unlikely especially due to the +40 offset. Not the best offset for the EvO9 as our OE offset is +38. The 18x8.5 is a very modest size & i suspect the +40 offset will work but a front spacer will likely be needed
Tire size range for a 8.5 wheel is: 225 min to a 255 max. The 35 series or a 40 series can be used. The 40 series gives alot of extra protection & looks a bit beefier if that is something youre looking for?
