Well, if you're really strapped for cash, you could try to pick up a set of used KYB's from the for sale forums, but if you're looking for something nicer, a new/used set of Bilstein shocks seems to be great for daily driving and some auto-x/track usage.

Also, did the previous owner lower the car on Tein springs?

kyb's are dealer only and well over $1k last i looked. you can get a set of bilstein hd's for $750 a set new and they are rebuildable and very good quality. not much for options.

That is an incorrect price quote.

The Bilsteins are $450 EACH for the front and $180 EACH for the rear. Yes they are rebuildable but will run you about $1300 For the set. NOT $750.

The KYB FRONTS are Dealer only and run about $330 Each, The Rears you can pick up at any KYB distributor for about $100 Each.

If Money is an issue as it is with all of us, I would suggest looking for some low mileage used OEM struts either KYB or Bilsteins. Whatever you can get.

^ QOH is near nothing, good luck.

I put in a factory inventory check through work (O'Reilly), and direct from Bilstein, I cannot get my hands on the rears, no ETA.

I did find that Tire Rack does have the Bilsteins HD's for $264 front Each, and $118 Each for the rear. That is a very good price. When I called they said they only had 1 pair at that price. So what ever that means.

On averge, with tax shipped to your house my estimate of $1300 isn't that far off. If you get them on clearance, or came upon a place selling them like tire rack at a cheaper price (even though very limited availability) get them while you can!

Most places I have seen sell the fronts anywhere from $350-$400 Each and the rears are around $115 each. If you do better than that, your doing pretty good.

So check out tire rack for sure!

gtworks typically has the same pricing, but they suffer from the same availability as everyone else.

Stock-ish - your best bet is a used set of MR bilsteins. If/when they wear out, you can have Bilstein rebuild them. You can get a new set of HD Bilsteins for the aforemention price of ~$800 for a full set (IIRC I got mine for about $760ish). I think Jeff is confusing the MR Bilstein shocks, which are generally dealer only, with the HD Bilstein shocks, which are more freely (though not readily) available via the aftermarket.

I assume you've since replaced the offending springs ...
