CV Problem?

Hi all,

CAR: EVO 8 have just started to notice a banging sound, on a left turn mainly (sounds like a CV Joint), but:

It does it in a straight line under braking
Also i can grab the front wheel (the side the noise appears to be coming from) and when pushing and pulling (in and out), i feel some play.

I thought straight out a CV problem, but am not sure as it sounds like it is muffled.

any ideas?

Thanks.

I have noticed cv's "click" when turning, one way or the other. If you have play in the wheel , I would think ball joint or tie rods myself.. A ball joint would pop.

Yea I would say if there is play in the wheel back and forth you should look into replacing your tie rod as mentioned or the hub. Ball joints are a possibility, but they don't go as much on these cars as the hubs and outer tie rods. I would start there personally.
