coilover advice 2011

I am looking to step my game up from bilstein/swift to a coilover setup..
-I would like to enjoy driving the car without my head bouncing around.
I have done some research and come up with a few things, just always read mixed review, plus most of the threads are several years old
I will be running a street tire for autox as well as on the street. I currently have revalved bilsteins and swift spec r's. Looking for an improvement over those.
- I drive in NY so comfort is a close 2nd to handling.
-Lightweight if possible
-Warranty
-Camber/caster plates.
Good reviews from others on the bored.

I've been riding on Zeal Xs for number of years. Comfy and top handling with solid construction. I've not had any problems at all. It cost more but will save you in pain and longevity. GL.

Bilstein PSS9 or KW Variant 3 are your best bet in that range, in my honest opinion. However, they do not come with pillow mounts like you want.

the whole thing with v3's is the factory spring rates. I dont even know what the rates are on pss9's. Anyone running the stance AL+PRO?

Spring rates can be changed on a coilover very easily. The bigger question is how much of a sacrifice are you willing to take. Comfortable on dd, and good on track is a big compromise.

have you looked into fortune auto coils w/ swift springs, you can get any rate you want and they'll valve it to match

ast's are out of my price range, I wouldn't want to just swap springs on the kws as they are not valved for those springs. fortune auto needs to establish themselves a little more around here, have not herd much from them, seems like a very small business that has just started building coilovers.

No, but you can jump up alittle. You have a nice buget, but you're definitely not trying to compromise, which isn't "fair"

In that price range, off the shelf Bilstein PSS9 or KW's with custom spring rates is the best choice IMO, but you will probably go over $2k when you add front camber plates. The KW's aren't perfect but for your needs and price range they're a solid choice. I don't think you're planning on going stiffer than the valving allows if you DD in NYC so I wouldn't worry too much about that. They're fine with 9k/10k rates for example and that's only 1 extra pair of springs.

Or, look on the used market for a good rebuildable coilover.

lol...most people here are going to say go Robispec or Ohlins...or nothing. I pmd a couple places, apparently the AL+ Pro is being discontinued. I got a helluva good price on a set of Fortune Auto 500 series from Import Image. Check them out, they seem really promising...especially for the price.

Most likely due to the release of the XR line.

BTW, both Andrew and I recommended PSS9 or KW, so thats two for those keeping count!
