Front coilover with no dust boot...?

I recently removed my dust boot on my front right coilover in order to address a squeaking noise i can hear whenever I drive on uneven pavement or entering a gas station/parking lot. It was found out that the dust boot is rubbing on the springs thus creating the noise. Now, the squeaking noise is gone but i am a bit worried about the consequences of having no dust boot. Will it be just fine for me to drive my evo everyday (especially when it is raining) without the dust boot on my front coilover? Thanks for you future replies.

I've seen coilovers with no boots or boots that are loose. I think my Buddy Club's had loose boots and they were fine. What suspension do you have? Maybe your best bet is to contact the manufacturer.

Coilovers with dustboots will generally last longer than those without before requiring a rebuild, but many motorsports coilovers do not come with dustboots. To some manufacturer's they are an "extra." But they are often available from the manufacturer if the customer wants them.

thanks for the input guys. i have a Skunk2 Pro-C coilovers and the dust boot that i removed is actually in good condition with no tear. the only reason why i got them removed is because of the squeaking noise it creates when it rubs with the springs.

When I installed my Robispec KW's I ordered boots from Megan racing and used safety wire to secure them to the coilover body.

You are positive the boots are rubbing? I have the same suspension and my boots are very tight and secure. 78 rules.

There is a good chance you wouldn't have any problems, but I would do my very best to find a way to keep it in place. Your coilovers are an expensive investment and you should do your best to keep them in good shape.

well, i am just thinking that it must be rubbing coz the squeaking noise went away by just removing the dust boots... i might be something else though...
