MR bilstins- Does something look wrong here?
...there are actually tons of "fully built" eovs driving around just cause they have one as a shop car doesn't mean everything was installed correctly.....however not saying there wasn't something wrong with the shock when you got it however you bought a used item so you the person installing or even the person that did the alignment after the install should have inspected/noticed (test drive) there was an issue with them...if the sell is in fact giving you any sort of refund this far down the road you should praise him for handling this so nicely..
If anyone want the Bilstein I will sell them to you for 280 all four
The travel of the spring... is what? the pressure from the weight of the car not being sustainable by the spring due to a bump or w/e; object bounces, pressure becomes significantly greater, spring cannot sustain this now great pressure, compresses, now the next thing to face this great pressure is the shock which has to try to counter the inertia that was not countered by the spring as it compressed which equal a more comfortable bounce. If I can feel a difference just pushing on it, imagine how the exponentially increases as the weight required to counter is at least quadrupled.
380-70= 310 for a set of bilstiens is still a good deal. Having them all rebuilt (to spec) for 520 (all rebuilt) is even still a good deal. I paid 800 for a set of New Bilstien HD's and other than being cleaner, you actually can have a better solution because they will set up to spec.
Suspension is probably the hardest thing to buy from people. it can be trashed in few hundred miles or be perfect after 40K. This seams like a fair net transaction, you won't nor shouldn't you lose money on perhaps the finest strut made for any evo.
The seller has treated you fairly, maybe even a little better than fairly as most parts are assumed 'as is' unless stated otherwise. (They were not obviously broken by the video). So kudos to you both on working through the transaction.

Its not just one... Anyways not the point this is NOT A SHOP review and I acted expecting good faith from the seller, he had a fairly good selling record and I have had a good buying experience other than the silly rotor deal I had to deal with. So I had no reason to triple check things, the spring was mounted to the shock so no way to check just the shock and as I said started 2 days after so a test drive was not going to bring any immediate problems....... PROBLEM FIXED SELLER GAVE A COMPROMISE AMOUNT OF $70....

I hope this isn't the same set you were trying to sell me since Feb (and did not mention any problems with them). I understand at first you did not know for sure that one was effed, but you still sent me an PM Apr 4 (2 days before this thread was started) saying they were off the car and ready to ship.

I sold some Bilstein w/ S-techs a few months ago and the guy first told me the shocks were leaking.

Caveat Emptor indeed.

When Bilstein rebuilds them, to they clean the strut up and re-spray them?
Does anybody have contact info for having them rebuilt?
