MR bilstins- Does something look wrong here?

I sold some Bilstein w/ S-techs a few months ago and the guy first told me the shocks were leaking. I asked for proof pictures, video something. I then didn't hear back from the person for a few weeks asking me to refund half of the money because one shock was busted not leaking oil but making a noise. The oil/ grease was his wheel bearing. I think there's a huge difference in oil and grease. He never provided me with and proof so I asked again. This went on for a few weeks then I didn't hear anything until this last week. He sends me this video of the shock. Maybe i'm not seeing something here, but wanted to get the EvoM members input. I didn't respond right away because I've been busy. He then writes me and tell's me i have two day's to contact him before he contacts his credit card company. I know for a FACT this Bilstein w/ S-techs left my house in prefect condition. This transaction also took place about 4 months ago. What would you guys do? Here's the video.

Here's the link if that doesn't work

How do you know he didn't hit a pothole within a few months he had it? Once it's out of your hands it's his problem, you sold it as-is. I wouldn't sweat it, the credit card company can't do anything. So are you going to pay for his flat tire if the shocks blow it out?

I hear you guys. I'll see how it plays out. This was the latest conversation

ME-REALLY??? You took what 4 months to get me a video that just shows one shock travelling a little faster! When the shocks left my house they were in 100% working order. I find it hard to believe that they got damaged in transit. Its hard to tell they're even damaged in the video. You've had the shocks for 4 months and how do i know you didn't damage them.

HIM
Dude, I told you something was wrong like 1-2 weeks after I installed them
It made a nasty noise and btw its not a little when you push on them it is A LOT easier to push one down than the other... a video cant show that, btw if you can see a difference that is noticeable on a video from a guy pushing on it imagine a CAR that weight what at 4 times on that one side? Guess what changed my axle noise did not go away, changed that shock and bought new bc br type coils noise is COMPLETELY gone!... I dont want to do a charge back it will only make me take back ALL THE MONEY, which I do not want to unless I have to, I want to come to an agreement and you compensate me for one....

He thinks the shock supports the weight of the car. LOL It only dampens the travel of the springs.

they are 70 bucks to rebuild through Bilstein, split the cost on that if you have to. The video doesn't really show anything.

Caveat emptor

Always applies to buying used. Since nothing was stated immediately it's tough cookies.

i'd tell him call the cc company they aren't going to take the money back and let him keep the product.

I called my cc company once to try to get a charge back and the conversation didn't go:

me:these people screwed me i want a charge back
them: okay your account will be credited in 3-5 business days.

they asked all kinds of questions and wanted me to forward them the emails and guess what? the cc company wouldn't do it.

I WAS THE BUYER Here, this is my side,
I am a VERY BUSY person... 5 Classes in College and a full time job sometimes even work overtime.... Finally cutting back on the working.... NEVER BEEN TO ANY TRACK SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR!!!!! PERIOD not with it and not without it. HAVEN'T GONE PERIOD AND I AM THE ONLY DRIVER!

Anyways I paid $380 for what were suppose to be no more than 10k on these good condition, they came to my door REALLY dirty but w/e its shocks and springs so didn't care

2 days of driving it and I got this BAD THUMPING I was like 0.o wtf over any minor bumps coincidentally started while on a date.... I drive like grandma, wax my car at least once month wash it at least 4 times a month, I take care of my car. When I have a female in the car, I make sure to try to have a bump-less ride so I am extra careful when I drive and got that first bad thump sound going up my driveway, even she was like what was that, I said IDK...

Then it continued... OVER EVERYTHING like a bad thump noise.

Looked under the car GREASE EVERYWHERE I MEAN A LOT!!! I also noticed my axle boot was ripped, so I was like GOOD not so bad then, got the axle replaced and planned to re-boot the other one and keep it as a spare.

I contacted because I had a BAD THUMPING noise from the passenger side after installation at a NOTED professional shop.... Checked and grease was splashed everywhere, had the car jacked up... I tore a boot on the axle so I thought darn had to be that, changed the axle after about 2 days. During this I felt it was not the sellers product. Same noise so I am thinking WTF could it be.... Being busy he asked for proof and I don't have time to focus on this car..... Now that I have cut back on schedule. I took it to the same shop they said its the ****ty suspension setup I bought from him, I thought ok **** I have to just buy coils. So I went and about coilovers now NO PROBLEMS ride is perfect over bumps NO THUMPING!!!.

Had the shop owner remove the springs and test the shocks, he called me over and laughed a funny irish guy that is an owner of performance race solutions, great shop and greater service, owner of a professional track evo at over 600 whp said press on this one.... I did it was very easy, now press on this one he said I said ok... It was tougher to push down and did not come as quickly as the other. He said that **** is beat up!!! And said this is why you dont BUY USED!!!!!!! This is now 4 months later, I live in the city of ORLANDO bumps are NOT PROBLEM here AT ALL I drive on a newly paved road that is completed and I only drive to work and school all of which do not have pot holes.

I have spent at least 5k in parts on this forum and this is MY second experience with a bad seller. Firrst one said he shipped me rotors and did not until a month later but another subject that has been fixed. I bought an FP red turbo, AEM standalone, injectors and IC and bunch of other ****s and NEVER had to file a dispute on here other than for the rotors which ended in me cancelling the dispute after the guy finally REALLY showed a working tracking number and it actually came. So if I wanted someones **** I would have chosen something better

The current seller here offered my $35 bucks to compensate for the problem, I refused and have already called my cc they said box it and ship it back to him which I will today and I am suppose to give them tracking..... Now I have been speaking with people they said that shock problem ****ed up my axle most likely because if a bump is not dampened the boot will flex too much and tear.

I offered to take $100 bucks from him, he said NO and started this thread!!!!!! and sent me the link showing how u guys apparently support him...

I never offered $35, I provided you with a link to someone selling a used strut and said i would split the cost. The blown axle was most likely caused by the shop that installed the struts. If you don't support the hub that's what will happen. Also it wasn't stated that the struts had 10k miles more like 30k! I know they didn't make noise when i had them. Anything could have happened at the shop that installed them. A 600hp race evo doesn't mean anything now days. There's high HP evos everywhere! I'm glad we talked on the phone and worked thing out. I agreed to give him $70 back which i still think is a joke but will do it to make him happy. Also the strut you received were here Those in that picture, I had two sets of springs and just removed the stock springs and installed the S-techs so i know for a FACT they weren't beat on! These only had highway and DD on them. They were only dirty/ oily from the rags i used! -https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sale-suspension-brakes-handling/527780-fs-two-sets-mr-bilstein-one-tein-s-techs-one-stock.html

YOU DID OFFER $35, you said its $70 bucks to rebuild and you would pay half of that, I informed you USA bilstein does not rebuild them .There are alot of high HP evos, not a lot are built from TOP to BOTTOM full blown race/track car (circuit racing) the thing now that I have the coils no rips in the boot... Same installer.... But not the point, it is suppose to be settled now... Waiting to receive the $70 compensation.

...there are actually tons of "fully built" eovs driving around just cause they have one as a shop car doesn't mean everything was installed correctly.....however not saying there wasn't something wrong with the shock when you got it however you bought a used item so you the person installing or even the person that did the alignment after the install should have inspected/noticed (test drive) there was an issue with them...if the sell is in fact giving you any sort of refund this far down the road you should praise him for handling this so nicely..

The travel of the spring... is what? the pressure from the weight of the car not being sustainable by the spring due to a bump or w/e; object bounces, pressure becomes significantly greater, spring cannot sustain this now great pressure, compresses, now the next thing to face this great pressure is the shock which has to try to counter the inertia that was not countered by the spring as it compressed which equal a more comfortable bounce. If I can feel a difference just pushing on it, imagine how the exponentially increases as the weight required to counter is at least quadrupled.
