Does this subframe still need the moustache bar eliminator and side diff supports, or does it cover everything....

Anyway this is exatly what us folks with an AYC rear end need, The OEM RS rear support costs 811$, and Its really rare for us Who need RS convesions....

what do you think?

Nice piece but I would rather focus on reducing the weight off the front end personally. a tubular, lighweight version for the front would be nice.

 

GUYS. I will test THIS UNIT for you, just tell me do I need to order a moustache elim and side mounts, or is this all inclusive? I guess I gotta show this thing to Dave Buschur...

 

BTW there's a front version as well, but it cost 2x of this one (2800$), and saves only 11 vs 40 lbs.

+ I wouldn't risk compromising the front integrity/stiffness. The rear is really light, and has less chances of load failure...

The main reason I posted about this part is that EITHER IT or OEM RS DIFF subframe is needed to convert from AYC. I just wanna do it the better way...

 

THIS UNIT COVERS EVERYTHING, so that is -600$ in buschur parts and buschings...

 

I think this is kind of a play on numbers. Here are the stock part weights:

Rear Crossmember: 22 pounds
Secondary Rear Crossmember and brackets: ??? (this is the crossmember where the diff side mounts bolt into, as a guess it is probably about 6-9 pounds)
Rear sway bar = 11 pounds
Moustach bar = 15 pounds
Rear diff side mounts = 7 pounds

Total: 55 + secondary mount (roughly 60-65 pounds total)

Eliminating the rear sway bar, moustach bar, and diff side mounts = 33 pounds
This sub-frame eliminates about 7 pounds of actual sub-frame/brackets, etc. The rest of the weight is simply from pulling parts off the car.

Using buschur moustach bar, side mounts, and ditching the rear bar would get you 28 of these pounds for like $500.



Other then that, I just happened to unbolt my rear sub-frame today and if those pictures are accurate for the EVO8, then it's not going to fit like the stock crossmember. Or it's not going to use ALL the factory mounting points anyway. There are two large bolts in the center of the crossmember that bolt into the floor of the trunk/spare tire well that aren't on that crossmember. Also, there is an extra brace heading towards the back of the car on that setup that isn't there on a stock crossmember. I like it, just wonder if it would cause any clearances issues with your exhaust.

The rear dif mount doesn't really match the EVO8 diff either? The EVO8 has three bolt holes in the rear cover where this uses 4.

I can't tell if it has a rear sway bar mount either but I'm thinking it doesn't and that is 11 of the pounds dropped, as mentioned above.

 

Thats what I said, you can pay 600+ for some buschur stuff and an OEM 811$ aluminium diff frame or get an all in one and save another 14 pounds.... DOnT FORGET IM TALKING AYC EVO here, not some USDM..
