My Evo handles like crap
For your uses just having the bilsteins rebuilt to OEM specs is not a bad idea.
PMed you.
I'd say get the Spec R's or our GTWORX springs, skip the regular Swift sports.

yeah. Posting off-topic to raise post count. Good stuff. Update on the car:
Sold my JIC's, so now I have money in my paypal for the Spec R's.
Haven't pulled the springs off the bilsteins to send them off. That is happening Saturday.
Have a USDM bumper in transit to me right now, to lessen the raked look that I disklike. I don't think there is any way I could run the Spec R's on a WW with the JDM rear bumper, appearance-wise. (not the most important thing, but let's be honest, who drives a car that they hate the way it looks if it's something they can change?)
So I should have some time to get everything together while waiting on the Bilsteins to return, then I'll let it sit two weeks after mounting the new springs and get an alignment.
I'm trying to get it all right the first time so I'm totally happy with the car when I get it back on the road, so I can focus on other things.
Nah, there are other reasons.
One, I just bought an exhaust that won't clear, and I am not cutting it. I know how easy and cheap it is, but I don't want to modify the exhaust because I had a SAGA over the exhaust on my last car.
Two, I prefer the look of the USDM.
The thing I hate about rake is not the side skirt angle, it's the ***-high appearance. The JDM has an ***-high appearance to me, so it's really two approaches to minimizing the same problem.
Three, I want to run a factory crash beam.
I do prefer the look of the JDM rear with carbon side skirt additions and do-luck front, slammed, with the rexspeed wing, on a certain color, such as Apex Silver. But that is a lot of stuff I don't want or care about, and the easiest thing is just to put a USDM bumper on it.

I did the install today, everything went on on just fine. I took the car for a test drive and the difference was night and day between the Bilstien's w/ Robispecs and my old stock KYB's with stock springs. Although I didn't get a chance to really hammer through many corners, I'm going to have to say these Ebay Robispecs are in fact legit. I don't have any of the problems like the OP is having. The car feels very balanced, and the ride quality is much more superior to my old setup - the overall handling is greatly improved.
I'll need some more time with the car and a proper alignment, but I'm happy with the way the car feels as of now.

I know what you mean. I'm still trippin about mine, not sure what I'm going to do. I had a bunch of stuff come up on the non-Evo front so the whole thing has been backburned.
Be sure to get some pics and a ride report posted and let me know!

After lots of frustration trying to get my coilovers setup properly on my Evo X, I did not want to go down that road again with my VIII. I think I made the right decision this time by keeping it simple with a good set of Bilstiens (lucky I found a used set in great shape) and some decent springs. Originally I wanted to get a set of Spec R's, but I couldn't justify spending $300+ on a set of springs...mainly due to the fact the wife has me on a strict budget for this car
.
I have a track record with my previous cars of going a little crazy with the modding by changing things that only ended up causing headaches for me in the end. I'm hoping this time I can keep it simple and have time to really enjoy the car, rather than stressing over it every day. I only do a couple of track events a year, so there's really no need for me to go all out with an expensive coilover setup...It's actually nice having a car that handles well, while still having decent ground clearance and a not-so harsh ride.
I haven't had much time to drive the car lately and I still have yet to get an alignment, but so far, I'm happy. I'll post more impressions when I get some more time behind the wheel. To the OP - I hope it all works out for you with whatever you decide, keep us posted!
