Lowering springs on bilsteins

Hello! Im in the process in a month or two sending out my bilsteins out for a rebuild. Getting alot of rust on the lower part and i think 100k miles is a good point to start replacing parts. Now the question is can i use say H&R (This is just a example. Im am still looking into some good springs for handling and around a 1" drop) springs on the bilsteins? Or is it just a bad idea to use lowering springs on the bilsteins.

Dropping it on 100k mile shocks I wouldn't expect a great ride from the combo, but you could do it. There are many out there dropping on oe springs with okay results.

Well wouldn't a rebuild make the bilsteins close to brand new?

As long as you put springs that are designed for the MR Bilsteins and not the HD's. Swift makes a very nice quality spring for the MR Bilsteins and if you do some searching, you'll find some threads in the Show N Shine that will give you an idea on the stance.

Thanks for the reply's, i was worried that the bilsteins would cause a problem if i used lowering springs.

Bilsteins are fine with some aftermarket lowering springs, as long as you get the right springs. A lot of springs lower the car too much and you will be resending those struts out again in no time to get rebuilt. Stick with either swifts, gtworx, or robispec for your spring upgrades and you will be good to go. If you're looking for an inch drop all around that is the exact drop of the gtworx, so I would say go with those.

Also, if you decide on what springs to get, bilstein can rebuild your shocks to match the springs.

Get the Swift Spec R's and send your Bilsteins in to get rebuilt. ;P

The Swifts aren't 'too' low imo.

I personally like Robispec springs w/ Bilsteins. Drop 1" all around. Slightly less reduction in spring travel in the front than Swifts. Do not introduce additional rake which IMO is a good thing but there are different ways to look at that - ultimately it likely depends on what else you are doing. Handling is very good and much more focussed than stock. Ride is more comfortable than stock springs w/ Bilsteins.
