I run the Apexi N1 coilovers and love them out of the box they are great and you can find them for around 1k if not under. Fortune Auto coilovers are good and so are the BC for around the same price.
Don't take it personal, but if you don't look at the "bs" thread, you'll miss all the great information out there containing the same exact question(s) that has/have already been asked and addressed. Since you don't want to take the time to read I'll give you a REALLY condensed Cliff Notes. You don't necessarily have to buy coilovers. But if you're set on coilovers, do your research on how you want it set up because it can screw up your evo's handling vs stock--and you don't necessarily have to buy $3k plus coilovers. It really all depends on your goals and most importantly, your priorities upon which you place those goals. For example:
Primary street use (95%) and occasional track use=buy used bilsteins and swifts or gtworx springs and maybe camber plates.
A little more track/race= buy used "good" coilovers (kw's and the like).
Slam my ride and with hella flush wheels and take to the track and embarrass yourself with the combination of lack of skill and poor quality suspension= find the cheapest thing you can buy.
Either way good luck

First, figure out exactly what you want to do with your car. "Street and occasional track use" is way too generic to even begin basing a decision on, since:
- Street ... how many miles/trips per week, what kind of driving?
- occasional track use ... once a year, once a month, once a week?
- track ... auto-x, rally-x, drag, road race?
Next, ask yourself "why do I want coilovers?" Is there a specific behaviour or handling characteristic of your Evo that you're trying to address? Is it more for looks, performance, or ride quality?
Then start here and educate yourself: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ead-links.html

thank to all who answered directly and your short opinions. much appreciated.
I am very educated in cars(lol) track racing as well, i just needed a short list of brands to narrow my search. (USUALLY recommendations from others aren't going to be total crap as this is a very useful tool in decision making)
just to please you off topic trollers with nothing better to do,
forums would be more useful without posts like:

Its rumoured that all the "lower tier" coilovers are either made in the same factory or are all about the same in terms of quality.
Apex'i
BC Racing
HKS
Tein
Megan
I don't know much about the fortune auto coilovers or Stance.
Personally I had BC's and they were great for the street. I just changed to Tein Flex but I haven't driven the car yet so I have no opinion.

should do the tanabe ones... Since they have their own factory and what not.

They even offer that CST brand... which is weird lol.

I have been running the Megan Streets for ~13K miles and have had no issues. Car handles very well although I might opt for an equivalent spring rate f/r based on the H&R bars that I run.
I believe I paid $850 to my door and they are made by the same company that makes BCs.
