spacers, studs, and lugs help
spacers, studs, and lugs help
few questions in regards to wheel spacers and wheel studs....
1) what is the oem wheel stud length?
2) whats the thickest spacer we can use with oem studs and lugs? any different with aftermarket lugs?
3) if you do get extended wheel studs and spacers for aftermarket wheels, what is the proper setup to revert back and use oem wheels for winter? being as oem lugs arent made for longer studs...
4) is it still highly recommended not to use aftermarket (coned/tapered) lugs with oem wheels?
5) what are the biggest concerns about using spacers on a daily driver? and at road course or autox events?
6) do you have hubcentric rings for your volks? is it really needed especially with tapered lugs?
OT question:
if you have 18" wheels and get a flat, how safe is it on the car to use the spare 17"? would buying an evo X spare tire be better? eventually getting 265/35/18 tires for my 18x9.5 wheels. would the evo X spare be the same size. or what options do you have.

Couldn't tell you
2) whats the thickest spacer we can use with oem studs and lugs? any different with aftermarket lugs?
5mm

If you are going to be reverting back and forth between stock lugs and aftermarket and still want to run a spacer, you can just buy bolt on spacers seen here: http://motorsport-tech.com/wheel_adapters.html
4) is it still highly recommended not to use aftermarket (coned/tapered) lugs with oem wheels?
Correct
5) what are the biggest concerns about using spacers on a daily driver? and at road course or autox events?
No issues here, been running them for awhile.
6) do you have hubcentric rings for your volks? is it really needed especially with tapered lugs?
Yes and no. The hubcentric rings just help in ensuring that your wheels are truly centered on your hub. The acorn style lugs do this too, just shake the wheel a little before tightening all the way and you will be fine. My personal recommendation would be to get the hub/wheel centric rings though; no reason not too.

I wouldn't recommend long term driving like this, but a short distance with easy driving will be fine. Ideally, your outside diameter will be the same.
