Wink Stop Tech Rotor is Smoking!

So i have recently purchased slotted stoptech rotor. 1 piece. and under hard braking i have been seeing my rotors smoking. i did not change my brake pads (EBC Redstuff) when i replaced the rotors.
Rotors smoke for good 30 seconds with its distinct smell. but goes away without problems.
Is this something thats common to see? i would say i have driven 300 miles on these so far.

Did you break them in properly? I know they should smoke during the break in but 300 miles after install sounds excessive.

Did you excessively lube up the back of the pads? That's usually what smokes.

I've found it best to use a high temp grease; in sparingly small amounts.

I am running the same brake setup Stoptech slotted one piece and EBC Redstuff, I haven't had any smoking issues. The only thing with mine is slow speed squeal.

Are they smoking under high speed braking or just smoking all the time in normal driving?

i dont think its the rotors smoking... redstuff arent really a high temp pad... so i think the pads are smoking

Mine have held up very well on the track at speed and I haven't seen smoke like he is talking about.

Bleed your system, or when was the last time it was done? I change fluid after every track day. You might what to check and ensure you don't have a caliper hanging up on you and your pads are not staying engaged when you are not on the pedal.

This is definitely not normal.

Smoke is usually caused from the pads/rotor becoming too hot
or brake fluid leaking onto the pads/rotor.

Best guess is either a caliper piston or a caliper itself has seized...

im not losing any fluid so i believe its the pads or the rotors. what pads would you recommend for street use and some track days to go with stop tech slotted

I've never heard of a rotor smoking, its usually the pads (or pad transfer on the rotors). I also reccommend dedicated street and track pads if thats what you do with the car?

If you can live with the noise and it possibly eating your rotors, you could just run a track pad all the time.

I think you should look into upgrading fluid if you're bleeding every track weekend. I do 8-12 weekends a year and bleed maybe twice. AMSOIL DOT4 or SRF with good cooling is all you need.
