If you lower an s2k it puts a lot of stress on the axle joint and ruins them quickly thats why they are neccesary and wheel spacers and driveshaft spacers aren't the same.

And I don't own an evo yet. I only want an 06 WW MR and up here in washington there are none to be found. I've been searching craigslist for months and only 1 has come up. Which sold in a day. So i'm most likely flying down to california in april for a wedding and will pick one up then. Seems to be a few good ones at all times on the classifieds. Just researching and picking up a few parts till then.

Wheel gap? Oh, this is actually functional.

Stress that they can cause is

Back to your question. You cannot slam an Evo over about 1.5in without requiring a lot more work (RCK and the like). You will limit the stroke and droop of the suspension and neuter handling from there.

There really is a right way (and looks good too).

Not to mention the lack of travel you have with most shocks unless they have an adjustable body and spring perch. But then of course you have to know what you're doing to set them up properly. Which I see is basically never done...

Maybe Ill do a video brief this winter on what an adjustable body is really for.

The stock struts don't have enough travel to drop much without riding straight on the bump stops. On that note, neither do cheap coilovers.

So many people ignore the KISS rule. Keep It Simple Stupid. Too often its ZOMG I have 12312x knobs and adjustments...code for I am lost. No idea what to do with them.

Yes and yes

A video or series would be damn cool (and I'll make sure they would stickied).

A video series is something I've wanted to do for a loooooong time. Myles is essentially a professional cameraman/editor too. And Carol...well...she has what I'll call "stage presence." We just don't have the time unfortunately.

Dallas, are you friends with Dan H with a silver STI? Any chance you're going to PRI?

Yep, we hang out quite a bit. If youve seen the videos of Dans on youtube I'm the other guy driving his car or its my car on the Wet videos. In general he's the wet driver and I'm the dry driver .

Haha, yeah the new girl would be a great person to give the information.. Though would we be hearing what she said

Edit: BTW, silver STi? You mean Black RSTi now

I dropped my Evo in front ~1.25" with Bilstein PSS9s and put an RCA on it. The mechanic told me it looks like the RCA at that drop put the geometry back to pretty much exactly stock. Does this sound about right or should I drop the front a tad more?

Lowering, if any, is a function of need.

So I should drop it down to 2" total so I can get a bunch of rake out of the car?

I want the car to look like it is pointing at the pavement but at the same time I would prefer to not screw with the geometry too much. You know what I am saying?

i tracked my s2k for 3 years, 1.5" lowered and no need for axle spacers. only those guys who slam the car need axle spacers because the axles are pulled too far out of the cup.

I bought my 8 with Tein lowering springs on it. I see Smike says there are many things that need to be done to drop it more than 1.5"? Mines dropped 2" and I've been driving it for almost 4 years/30k miles without an issue and it handles good. What's all this "work" you talk about that needs to be done?
