Yes you will need to roll the rear fenders flat. Tire size will effect the fitment along with how low you are. You could always run a 235 stretched on it to fit however I would put a 255 on them.

There's absolutely no way an Evo 8/9 chassis fits a 9.5 wide wheels with a +12 offset and 255 tires. The body just doesn't allow the room for that. The fenders will need to be rolled flush, and the bumper bolt needs to be relocated. Its pretty involved.

+35 to +40 would be a lot better.

17x9.5 +30 ~ +35 will make it without rolling the fenders. +12 stick out about 3/4". So stretch tires, and neg cambers should be enough. Can avoid pulling the fenders.

235/40 tires.

The chassis is weird in that it prefers high offset in the rear, and low offset in the front. As some have already suggested, staying in the high 20 to high 30 offsets are more ideal for wider tire clearance. Depends what you're after really.

Roll and pull with a stretch fit tire 225/35/17 or 235/35/17 and maybe a camber kit too.

I have a 9.5 +20 setup and 255's rubbed like crazy, I'm running a 235 now and so far so good.

Although, different tire companies size their tires differently. My Federal 255s were about 40mm wider than the 235 Hankooks I run now..

When I had stock fenders a 9.5 +30 with a 255 rubbed a lot......

stick em out 18mm further and you're gonna be in big trouble.

exactly, a lot of guys see a pic and go with a stupid offset because someone else did it. for a 9.5" wheel, the "proper" offset is going to be +35 to +40.

18x9.5 +22 fits with little to no rubbing on 255/35R18 tires on stock body Evo 8/9. Front fenders don't need a roll, but rears do. 1* camber in the front, with 1.5* rear. Toe set to spec.
